Indian Motorcycle has revealed a range of updated Scout models for the global market. The 2025 Indian Scout lineup&nbsp;– consisting&nbsp;of the&nbsp;Scout Sixty Bobber, Sport Scout Sixty,&nbsp;and the Scout Sixty Classic&nbsp;– gets unique styling, technical updates, and more electronics. To begin with, the 2025 Scout range uses a new 999cc liquid-cooled V-twin SpeedPlus engine mated to a 5-speed transmission. Indian says the engine is the same 'completely redesigned' unit as the 1,250cc SpeedPlus, albeit with a different bore and stroke. Power and torque figures stand at 84bhp and 88Nm at 6,500rpm, respectively. The chassis is now a new&nbsp;steel tube unit, suspended by a 41mm&nbsp;telescopic fork and twin shocks. Like&nbsp;the 1250cc Scouts, the smaller Scouts get a single-disc arrangement both at the front and rear to handle braking duties.&nbsp;

The 2025&nbsp;Scout Sixty comes in two variants&nbsp;– Standard and Limited. Indian Motorcycle has launched the 2024 Roadmaster Elite in India at Rs 71.82 lakh (ex-showroom). Featuring&nbsp;a tri-tone paint scheme of&nbsp;Indian Motorcycle Red Candy, Dark Indian Motorcycle Red Candy, and Black Candy shades,&nbsp;the new Roadmaster Elite is&nbsp;a nod&nbsp;to the company's 1904 Indian Camelback&nbsp;–&nbsp;the first Indian motorcycle to come with the classic Indian red paint scheme. Only 350 units of the 2024&nbsp;Roadmaster Elite will be manufactured, thereby making it exclusive.&nbsp;

Each unit comes with a blacked-out windscreen, a colour-matched stitched heated &amp; cooled seat, an adaptive LED headlamp, hand-painted golden pinstripes, 10-spoked diamond-cut alloys, and&nbsp;Elite branding &amp; graphics on the engine, fuel tank and foot-rest. The 2024 Roadmaster Elite uses a&nbsp;1,890cc, air-cooled, V-Twin engine, which makes 170Nm of peak torque while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are taken care of by a 46mm telescopic front fork (with 119mm travel) and a rear monoshock (with 114mm travel). Indian Motorcycles has unveiled the updated Scout range for the global market. The motorcycle now comes in five variants—101 Scout, Super Scout, Scout Bobber, Sport Scout, and Scout Classic, spread across three trim levels—&nbsp;Standard, Limited, and Limited + Tech. Although the five models have similar foundations, they differ slightly in terms of appearance. The&nbsp;Scout Classic, evident through its name, boasts a traditional appearance. It has flared fenders, as well as, wire-spoke rims, and exhaust pipes with a chrome finish. On the other hand, the Super Scout is the touring version of the Scout Classic, with features such as saddlebags, a windscreen, and a pillion seat.&nbsp;The Scout Bobber has&nbsp;clipped fenders, a low stance, an all-black hue, a higher seat, and a 19-inch front wheel.

Last but not least, the 101 Scout is a range-topping model of the lineup, which pays tribute to the&nbsp;original Indian 101 Scout. The distinguishing elements of the variant include multiple colour options,&nbsp;an independent ECU setting for more power, a front fork, and piggyback rear shock absorbers, both adjustable, among others. <h2>Indian Scout Lineup: Powertrain</h2>

The most significant <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/kia-sonet-facelift-spied-testing-in-india-shows-exterior-modifications-114181/">modification</a> is in the engine department. The 2025 series now has an all-new 1,250cc, four-valve, DOHC, 60-degree V-twin engine that is liquid-cooled and named the SpeedPlus. The motor produces 111Nm (13 Nm more than the previous version) at 6,300rpm and 103.5bhp at 7,250rpm, with a six-speed <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/new-kia-carens-variants-with-diesel-engine-manual-transmission-drivetrain-launched-in-india-116670/">transmission</a>. The 101 Scout variant produces 110bhp, which is a bit more power than the other variants while maintaining the same torque. The primary reason behind the rise in output is ECU tuning.&nbsp;There is a slip-and-assist clutch on the new SpeedPlus engine.&nbsp;&nbsp;The liquid cooling allows for a radiator size decrease of up to 20%.

<h2>Indian Scout Lineup: Hardware</h2>

The Scout has been updated with an aluminum centre&nbsp;piece and a steel tube front frame. A new subframe, shared by the entire range, is located at the rear. In terms of cycle parts, the lineup comes with a 41mm telescopic fork with 104mm travel, and dual shock absorbers that can be adjusted for preload.&nbsp;On the other hand, the 101 Scout features completely adjustable dual shocks at the back with 76mm of travel and a 43mm upside-down fork with 150mm of travel. While the 101 Scout has dual 320 disc brakes with four-piston calipers up front, and the Classic, Bobber, Sport, and Super Scout have a single two-piston calliper up front with a 298mm semi-floating rotor. At the rear, however, all models feature the same&nbsp;298mm disc and single-piston calliper.

<h2>Indian Scout Lineup: Equipment</h2>

While the Limited Tech + trim is only available for the Super Scout and the 101 Scout, the Standard and Limited trims are offered with the Scout the Classic, the Scout Bobber, and the Sport Scout. The Standard trim offers LED lighting, analogue&nbsp;dials, and ABS. In addition, the Limited includes features like cruise control, traction, and three riding modes: Sport, Standard, and Tour. In contrast, the Limited Tech + version boasts a rounded, 4-inch TFT touchscreen that is equipped with GPS navigation and Bluetooth.

Indian Motorcycle has globally uncloaked&nbsp;the 2024 Roadmaster Elite—a limited-edition model. The most fascinating thing about this unique masterpiece, among many other things, is its tribute to the company's classic 1904 Indian Motorcycle Red paint job. Setting new luxury touring in the class, the bike is based on the Roadmaster chassis and is limited to just 350 units globally. It has many amenities, such as a turn-by-turn navigation system, a 12-speaker music system mounted on the front fairing, an all-LED lighting arrangement with cornering LEDs, in addition to a 7-inch TFT with integrated Apple Carplay.&nbsp;Read on to know some more facts about this latest special edition by Indian Motorcycle.&nbsp;

<h2>2024 Indian Roadmaster Elite: Appearance</h2>

A blacked-out windscreen, hand-painted golden pinstripes, colour-matched and heated and cooled seat, and a gloss black dash are also included.

While talking about the design, Aaron Jax, Vice President for Indian Motorcycle, said “Our Elite models take the incredibly high bar we set for all of our products, and raise it even higher, offering something more exclusive for the rider who wants to make sure their bike is a cut above anything else on the road,”

Apart from the features mentioned above, the bike comes equipped with disc brakes on both ends, telescopic front forks, and a monoshock at the back. Additional features include remote-lockable saddlebags and a top box with 136 litres of combined storage capacity. The Roadmaster Elite special edition, which is available in 350 units globally, has a 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled seat, black passenger armrests, and 10-spoke diamond cut alloys, among its features.

Indian Motorcycle has pulled the wraps off the two limited edition bikes for international markets –&nbsp;the&nbsp;Indian Pursuit Elite and&nbsp;the Chieftain Elite. The bikes will be available&nbsp;in limited numbers across the globe, making them highly exclusive. Only 150 units of the Pursuit Elite and 175 units of the Chieftain Elite will go on sale. Prices of the Pursuit Elite and the Chieftain Elite stand at around Rs 33 lakh ($39,999) and Rs 29 lakh ($35,499), respectively. All prices are ex-showroom.&nbsp;But for our market, the bike maker still hasn't revealed their prices. Both bikes have received a number of cosmetic upgrades over their standard models. Super Graphite Metallic and Black Metallic paint options are available for the Indian Pursuit Elite, while the Chieftain Elite comes&nbsp;in Super Graphite Smoke and Black Smoke colour options.

<h2>Indian Pursuit Elite, Chieftain Elite Limited Editions: Powertrain, Performance</h2>

The limited-edition Indian Pursuit Elite is powered by a relatively smaller 1,768cc liquid-cooled V-twin motor, which churns out 120bhp of maximum power and 174Nm of peak torque.&nbsp;This engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

On the other hand, the Chieftain Elite limited-edition model draws power from a larger 1,890cc Thunderstroke 116 air-cooled V-twin engine, which produces 171Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

For suspension, the Pursuit Elite uses a 43mm inverted telescopic fork at the front with 130mm of travel. The rear end gets an electronically adjustable 114mm Fox single shock with 114mm of wheel travel. For braking duties, the bike gets dual 320mm semi-floating front discs with 4-piston radial callipers and a single 298mm floating rear discs with 2-piston callipers.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The bike comes with a gunfighter-style single-piece seat (650mm in height) with bronze-coloured stitching and a wheelbase of 1,668mm. The open road never looked so good. To you, because the Indian revels in reaching for the horizon. To others, because the Roadmaster is unlike anything they’ve ever seen before.

In a country where size is equated with might and luxury is often directly related to the ability of a vehicle to turn heads wherever it goes, the idea of luxury motorcycling in India becomes slightly different from the West. If you were to think of open highways, rock and roll music, and motorcycles – you might probably be thinking of a two-wheeled version of the “American Dream.” But, fancy terminologies aside, what you might be thinking of is the state highways of California and the said motorcycle being a ‘Chopper’ which means that it has been extensively worked upon and modified to express the personality of the rider who owns that machine.

This “dream” of luxury motorcycling comes crashing down in India when you get your hands on a machine with such high luxury and stature in the world of cruiser motorcycles. The state highways of California look like a distant dream – both literally and figuratively – and it turns out what you have ahead of you are the likes of the Delhi-Jaipur highway or a sprint between Mumbai-Pune, and so on. As for the motorcycle, perhaps the most you can do is accessorise it with more lights than it already has because the idea of riding a “Chopper” goes out of the window when you realise that modifying vehicles in India is illegal. Your high-rake-look motorcycle will probably end up getting you traffic challans or result in a lot of time wasted in awkward conversations with the cops.

But you are here to read about the Indian Roadmaster, so why am I going on about bashing your teenage motorcycle dream? The reason is simple, motorcycles like the Roadmaster, when ridden in places like Delhi-NCR – where we rode it, give an experience unlike anything you have ever thought of before. That’s what was the case with me too. But to make you better understand that, I have to leave behind the typical idea of luxury cruiser motorcycles defined by popular culture from the West and approach everything with a blank slate and make you do the same.

Once you do that, you will start to see the Indian Roadmaster in an all-new light.

“It’s Yuuge!”

The Indian Roadmaster is “yuuge,” (read: huge) as the ex-American president Donald Trump would say. And as a result, wherever the motorcycle goes, it has people looking at it. And honestly, it is a mix of emotions. Many of those looks are from other riders and drivers of “What The Fruit!” as a motorcycle this big is not something they expect in their peripheral vision. Others, mostly, are observing the Roadmaster and its finer details which evidently, and understandably, takes time – the motorcycle is almost 2.6m long!

There are several stages to the shock and awe. It may start with them noticing the music coming out of the motorcycle’s 200-watt speakers placed in the fairing and around the back seat, or sometimes it is the burbling exhaust note. However, the final stage of observation is always of appreciation.

During my time with the motorcycle, I received several questions about the price, some complimented my riding skills for handling such a machine at city speeds of&nbsp;30 km/h and some even cracked jokes with the overarching theme being that is the Roadmaster a bike or a helicopter, for some reason.

Overall, it makes for a conversation/camera app starter, and if you are someone like me who does not mind the small talk, you will find it all to be rather chucklesome. If you like being the centre of attention, then the Roadmaster is as good as it gets.

“I’m Lovin’ It”

Once you finish admiring the motorcycle from afar and take it for a ride, you will probably say what many Americans do after a meal from their most popular food chain. That’s because the Thunderstroke 116 V-twin engine is as smooth as err… cheese? Okay, I know I need to stop with these references. So, I will get straight to it – the 1890cc engine with the 6-speed transmission is one of the smoothest motorcycle drivetrains money can buy in India right now.

What you have at your disposal with the twist of the throttle is a meaty 171Nm of torque delivered as low as 3,000 rpm. You also get three riding modes – Tour, Standard and Sport. While Sport is uncharacteristic with its sharp throttle response and Standard can sometimes feel fidgety, the Tour mode is the best for almost all riding conditions.

What you would love is that the Roadmaster is full of features. The most helpful during our time with the motorcycle during Delhi’s December winter were the multi-stage-adjustable heated grips and the electronically adjustable wind deflector. Then, when you combine these features with the hard lower fairing that the Roadmaster comes with, pretty much all the wind that would have otherwise come in direct contact with the rider is deflected away. The motorcycle also comes with multi-stage adjustable cooled and heated seats – for both front and rear passengers – which make the ride experience cosy.

The downside to this air-bending is that at slower speeds, when the engine gets hot, you don’t have enough cold wind to cool things down either. The engine got unbearably hot in start-stop traffic, and do note that this observation comes while testing in the peak winter season. I can only imagine how extreme it would get during the summers. And in case you are wondering, opening the inlets on the lower hard fairing does not have a significant impact at low speeds.

The motorcycle also comes with rear cylinder deactivation, which happens when it comes to a stop. While this may help marginally with fuel efficiency, this too, is not enough to cool things down.

It’s a “La-Z-Boy”!

Once the roads open, though, the comfort is at par with the iconic La-Z-Boy chairs. And this is where you will enjoy the motorcycle the most. The chassis is so good that the motorcycle feels stable at highway speeds, feels agile during quick changes in direction, and can hold its line well through long corners.

During U-turns, however, you will notice the humongous 1,668mm wheelbase and the big turning radius that the Roadmaster has. You will also have to learn to always park in the ready-to-go position, as reversing this behemoth alone can be a task. It weighs 403kgs with fuel, and with such weight, the absence of a reverse gear is definitely felt, something that you get on the likes of the BMW K1600 and the Honda Gold Wing.

Other features include Bluetooth connectivity, USB charging port, remote locking saddlebags and trunk, keyless ignition, cruise control, ABS and a 7.0-inch touchscreen that registers inputs even with gloves on. The bike also has Apple CarPlay integration but requires a tedious process of signing up and creating accounts on the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/indian/">Indian Motorcycles’</a> app and is not a simple plug-and-play process – which is how it should have been.

“Can’t Help Falling in Love”

But at the end of the day, the Indian Roadmaster is more than its specifications and features. It is an experience, and despite not being the perfect motorcycle, it makes you want to return to it.

You would want to feel that road open up again rewarding you with some cool wind after you have put in the effort of slow-roasting yourself through crawling traffic. You find yourself missing the little conversations with strangers who create affection for you at a glance, the not-so-funny jokes made with pure intent, the shock, the awe, the music and at the end of it all – the craving to get back on the Indian Roadmaster once again.

The only question is will you spend half a crore to bring this motorcycle home? The open road never looked so good. To you, because the Indian revels in reaching for the horizon. To others, because the Roadmaster is unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. Here's our take on the Indian Roadmaster.

Indian Motorcycle has dropped the wraps on the limited-edition Elite trims of the 2022 Challenger and Chieftain baggers in the international markets. Both the motorcycles now come with a host of additional elements over their standard counterparts.&nbsp;

Apart from the changes in cosmetics, the Elite models now come with a host of electronic features like electronically adjustable rear suspension allowing preload changes as per the load being carried. It also comprises <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/indian/">Indian’s </a>Smart Lean technology for better control while cornering. Moreover, there’s an adaptive LED headlight, optional floorboards, heated grips, and an adjustable windscreen.&nbsp;

The list doesn’t end there. The new Elite models will also come with a 400W PowerBand audio system including saddlebag speakers to take the party where you go. In addition to this, the motorcycles get ABS, keyless ignition, tyre pressure monitoring, and remote-locking saddlebags as standard. Interestingly, now even the Chieftain Elite is equally packing.

The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/indian/">Indian&nbsp;</a>Chieftain Elite comes with an adaptive LED headlight, tinted windscreen, large footboards, saddlebag LEDs, and a 400W PowerBand audio system, similar to the Challenger. Other notable equipment includes a seven-inch TFT display, ABS, keyless ignition, a tire pressure monitoring system, and 68-litre saddlebags.

In terms of powerplants, the Challenger gets a 122bhp, 1,768cc, V-twin, PowerPlus engine, the Chieftain rides on a bigger, 1,901, Thunderstroke 116 mill. Both the motorcycles come with three riding models to suit different riding styles.&nbsp;

It’s a fancy job, there's no denying that, but then not all cars are ‘fun’ or ‘thrilling’ as some of you might expect to be the case. Sometimes it can be&nbsp;a bit boring too.&nbsp;

That said, there are more than a few occasions when a new car or bike knocks us out of our senses.&nbsp;These are the machines that make you grateful for having a job like this. The ones that make a lasting impression on you.&nbsp;

So, without further ado,&nbsp;allow me to rank my top 5 motorcycles of 2021 before the year comes to an end:

Ducati Multistrada V4 S

There’s a running joke among my colleagues that I get bribed by Ducati for promoting the Multistrada so much. I know that’s not the case, but sometimes I do question my motivations for going to great lengths to show my love and appreciation for the Multistrada, which, frankly, can be a bit too much. However, the latest iteration of Ducati’s heavyweight ADV, the Multistrada V4, deserves every bit of praise, and then some. This motorcycle has me totally smitten, and it is, without doubt, the best motorcycle I rode this whole year. The Multistrada V4 is the kind of motorcycle that makes you wonder why we only have two kidneys. Why can’t we have 10, so that we can trade them to experience the joys of owning this mighty and magical Multistrada?&nbsp;&nbsp;

After the R3, I can’t remember any Yamaha product that has excited me as much as the Aerox 155. Truth be told, I wasn’t prepared to get&nbsp;bowled over by this pocket rocket. But after living with it for a couple of days, I’m completely sold. It’s a thinking man’s R15. It’s a scooter with a twist. It rides and handles beautifully, and it makes you want to buy one immediately. It makes everyday mundane tasks/commute fun. And, more importantly,&nbsp;it goes on to show that when Yamaha gets a product right, they&nbsp;get it so damn right!

TVS Apache RR 310

Here’s a confession&nbsp;– the TVS Apache RR 310 was a motorcycle that I absolutely hated when I rode the original version back in 2017. It had crazy vibrations, and every body panel&nbsp;on it jingled and jangled like Christmas bells. But while the first version felt incomplete, TVS has now&nbsp;turned things around completely, and how! I rode the latest 2021 version earlier this year, and I came back with a simple declaration – it’s the ‘Best Sports Bike in India’. And that’s&nbsp;a statement that I stand by even today. For our market, there isn’t a sports bike that’s as complete as the RR 310. You can scorch the racetrack with it, you can go sport-touring, and you can ride it daily, too. On top of that, it looks gobsmackingly brilliant. And you can experience all of this without breaking the bank.&nbsp;

Honda CB500X

When I rode the Honda CB500X for the first time, I said it’s 'middleweight perfection'. The CB500X is the kind of motorcycle that you want to live with and ride every day and everywhere. It’s a no-nonsense ADV that has virtually all the bases covered. The parallel-twin engine’s got enough oomph to keep you entertained, and its handling is impeccable. And because it comes with long-travel suspension, it’s well-suited for our less-than-perfect roads. It’s sweet, simple, and an honest-to-God motorcycle. It's a real shame that Honda priced it exorbitantly because if it weren’t for its high sticker price, the CB500X would have been selling like hotcakes!

Indian Chief Dark Horse

Be it headbanging music or American cruisers, I’m not a fan of heavy metal. However, the day I rode the new Indian Chief Dark Horse, I was in for a rude awakening. What a motorcycle, honestly! I’ve always been under the impression that cruisers are meant for&nbsp;lazy old blokes who ride motorcycles as a ‘hobby’. But the Chief Dark Horse changed my mind. It’s a proper hoot to ride. A quintessential hot rod, if you will. I no longer have that aversion to cruisers. I now think they're rather&nbsp;brilliant!

Surprise&nbsp;of the Year: Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250

When the Pan America concept made its world debut back in 2018, I quipped that Harley-Davidson had&nbsp;lost its mind. But a couple of months ago, I got to ride Harley’s ADV behemoth, and I must say that that the humble pie I was served that day tasted great. Sure, the Pan America is not as accomplished as a big GS or a Multistrada, but for a company that’s never made an ADV before, the Pan America is so damn close to being perfect. Nobody expected Harley-Davidson to get the ADV formula right in its first attempt, which is&nbsp;why it makes this motorcycle all the more impressive. And I think that it's&nbsp;definitely the best underdog story of the year.
