The superbike runs on the same 1,200cc V4 engine that is found in the regular Norton V4SV.&nbsp;Manx Platinum and Carbon are the two available colours of the V4CR, each offering a&nbsp;somewhat different look to the bike.&nbsp;The Manx Platinum option has orange seats, platinum-colored bodywork with carbon panels, and forged aluminum OZ racing wheels, while the Carbon version has noticeable carbon fiber bodywork paired with black BST wheels and a black saddle. <p>While we are still in dark about&nbsp;details, we do know that the company has set a timeline of two and a half years to develop the motorcycle. any have speculated that&nbsp;the British bikemaker is looking to develop a motorcycle that will offer both performance and range.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Norton has partnered with a few other companies, all of which will bring in their expertise in different areas, for the development of the motorcycle. Delta Cosworth will design the battery pack, while HiSpeed Limited will bring in motor design and manufacturing skills. Formaplex Technologies will provide its expertise in precision composites manufacturing, and M&amp;I Materials will lend a hand in the application of dielectric cooling oils. INDRA will focus on home charging technology, and the University of Warwick will take care of battery technology, modelling, and toolchain development. We are still not sure if <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/tvs/">TVS </a>will be involved in providing its expertise in the development of the bike.</p>

<p>The company recently launched its re-engineered V4SV in the UK market. The motorcycle made it to the headlines with a price tag of&nbsp;44,000 GBP that surpassed that of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ducati/panigale-v4/" target="_blank">Ducati Panigale V4</a> SP.</p>

<p>We think petrolheads can agree on the fact that the V4SV is a looker and how. Elements like the exposed hand TIG-welded aluminium frame, full carbon fibre bodywork and an under-bracelet and billet aluminium single-sided swingarm look like it means business. &nbsp;</p>

<p>While bike makers around the world are rushing to get their products laden with winglets to the wind tunnel, Norton completely knocked the idea off the table for a clean, flowing and uncluttered look devoid of any appendages.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company is offering the motorcycle in two variants including Manx Silver and Carbon. The common thread between the two in terms of visuals is the full carbon fibre bodywork and a Union Jack on the tail. The Manx Silver variant comes with traditional Norton colours with red and carbon highlights on a polished silver base alongside a black number board at the front.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, the Carbon variant comes with a fully exposed carbon fibre bodywork and full carbon BST wheels. What knocks off a few kilos off this variant are elements like forged aluminium units.&nbsp;</p>

<p>At its heart, the Norton V4SV comes with a 1200cc V4 engine featuring titanium valves and churning out 187.5hp at 12,500rpm and 125Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. The motorcycle is suspended with the help of a full Brembo braking system with a radial master cylinder at the front paired to twin monobloc callipers clamping down on 330mm rotors.</p>

<p>It's also a modern <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/norton/">Norton </a>in every way considering it comes with a 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) that facilitates lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS and three engine modes: wet, road and sport.</p>

<p>Apart from what we mentioned above, there is yet another reason the motorcycle has made it to the headlines. This one comes with a price tag of 44,000 pounds. The price tag also surpasses the monumental price tag of 35,000 pounds of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-bikes/ducati/">Ducati </a>Panigale V4 SP2.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In November last year, Kinetic group announced that they will officially begin the sale of Norton Motorcycles in India. Just the way they do with the MV Agusta brand, Norton Motorcycles too will be sold via their Motoroyale chain of outlets. We have now got the news that the company has commenced the sale of the Norton Motorcycles with the Commando 961 Sport priced at Rs 23.41 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle has been brought to our shores via the CBU route as of now. While Kinetic is in the process of setting up an assembly facility in India, it will only be able to roll out CKD models towards the end of the year.</p>

<p>While in the international market, the Commando is available in two different body styles – Café racer and Sport, in India, Norton has only brought in the Sport as of now. Both these motorcycles share the same underpinnings though. At the heart, the <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/tvs-norton-acquisition-everything-you-need-to-know-107703/">Norton Sport</a> has been fitted with an air-cooled 961cc parallel-twin motor that makes 79bhp and 90Nm. This engine comes paired with a 5-speed transmission. Norton has equipped the Commando well including two 320mm 4-piston front discs and a 240mm 2-piston setup at the back – both sourced from Brembo. A dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. To cushion the undulations of the road, Norton has fitted the Commando Sport with 43mm Ohlins USDs up front and Ohlins twin shocks at the back.</p>

<p>In terms of design, the Norton Commando 961 Sport looks absolutely stunning. From the round headlight, curvaceous body to the spoke wheels and the dual exhaust pipes, the Norton Commando Sport nails the retro-modern appeal.</p>

<p>When <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/industry-news/kinetic-forms-jv-with-norton-motorcycles-to-sell-bikes-in-india/">Kinetic</a> announced their joint venture with Norton Motorcycles, the company announced their aim to bring in the Commando as well as the Dominator to India. There is still no confirmation about when the Dominator will be launched in India but we expect it to be launched after CKD operations commence. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Kinetic group's Motoroyale has announced a joint venture with Britain's Norton Motorcycles. This venture was earlier revealed at the recently concluded EICMA 2017 Motorcycle Show at Milan where Ajinkya Firodia, Managing Director, Motoroyale,&nbsp;along with Stuart Garner, CEO Norton Motorcycles acknowledged the partnership.</p>

<p>Firodia openly admitted that both the companies agreed that rolling out motorcycles via the CBU route didn't make any sense. Therefore, only the initial batch in the first quarter will CBU versions, while the company will simultaneously set up CKD assembly line for the café racer and sports model, Commando and later&nbsp;followed by the Dominator. Both these bikes will be powered by a 79bhp 961cc engine with 90Nm of torque at 5,200RPM. These are expected towards the end of 2018. Kinetic later on plans to also launch&nbsp;variants like Commando 961 Sport<b>; </b>Commando 961 Café Racer<b>; </b>Dominator Sport and DomiRacer. Apart from this, Norton will work on&nbsp;developing a new range motorcycles and engine platforms, which will be made available to the JV in the subsequent years.</p>

<p>In this joint venture, Kinetic has 51 per cent majority ownership and plan to assemble and operate of Kinetic Motoroyale's Ahmednagar plant, near Pune, Maharashtra, which holds a capacity of assembling 30,000 units annually. Therefore, Kinectic&nbsp;plans to not only assemble and sell motorcycles here in India but also export them to the ASEAN market.</p>

<p>Kinetic Group's Motoroyale, which also sells MV Agusta in India, will assemble Norton Motorcycles at Kinetic's manufacturing facility based in Ahmednagar. Local assembly would help Norton bypass excessive import&nbsp;duties and price their motorcycles competitively in India. Additionally, through Kinetic, Norton will also expand its reach to neighbouring countries like Indonesia and Bangladesh.</p>

<p>For those unaware of Norton Motorcycles, it is one of the oldest motorcycle companies, formed in 1898 is Birmingham, UK. The company has a long history of racing involvement as well. Presently, Noton makes four bikes - V4 RR, Dominator, Commando 961 Cafe Racer MK II and Commando 961 Sport MK II. The V4 RR is a 1200cc supersport, while all others are 961cc cafe racers.</p>

<p>The Dominator and Commando are expected to be Norton’s debut models in India, which are powered by a 961cc parallel-twin, fuel injected motor that produces 79bhp and 90Nm. These bikes are expected to arrive in India&nbsp;as CBUs initially. As mentioned, local assembly of these bikes will be commenced by Kinetic soon afterwards.</p>

<p>Ordinary folk who live their lives from nine to five a day at a time often make bucket lists. Things to check off their list so that when the time comes to call it quits permanently, they can look back and say "Yes! I did that!" For those who have an interest in sports, that bucket list may include seeing such an event live instead of on a television or simply reading about it.</p>

<p>It is not all that different for those who participate in such events. There is always that one particular event or title that a sportsperson will want to lay claim to. When it comes to motorsport, few achievements top being a MotoGP champion, Isle of Man TT winner and a Formula 1 world champion. And that is exactly what the recently deceased John Surtees could lay claim to.</p>

<p>For the Englishman, who passed away last Friday at the age of 83, the years 1956 and 1964 hold particular significance for him. Although his winning ways were not restricted to just those two seasons, those were the years when he was able to claim a premier class MotoGP crown, a TT win and an F1 title, respectively.</p>

<p><strong>1956</strong><br />
Motorsport is as much about luck and timing as it is about skill and technical superiority. The 1955 season had marked Surtees' fourth year with British motorcycle firm Norton. His record since 1952 had seen him start just five races in the premier 500cc class of motorcycle grand prix racing, out of which just two resulted in points scoring finishes.</p>

<p>The reason was fairly clear. Norton was in severe financial difficulty and was unable to compete hard at the top level of MotoGP, something that the precociously talented Surtees was eager to do. This eagerness led to a switch to Italy's MV Augusta in 1956. The marque had been beaten to the premier class crown the previous year by Gilera but the combination of their bike and Surtees proved to be potent, to say the least.</p>

<p>A victory at the opening round at the Isle of Man TT was followed by two more wins and then not participating in the remaining three races of the year. It didn't matter, however, as Surtees' points total was unable to be eclipsed and he was crowned champion at the age of 22.</p>

<p>Surtees also competed in the 350cc class where he notched up a win and a second place. The 1957 season was a slight blip before he and MV Augusta utterly dominated the MotoGP in its premier 500cc class and 350cc class from 1958 to 1960. Eighteen wins, three 500cc titles as well as 14 wins and three titles in 350cc racing too. A bigger challenge beckoned, however, and late in 1960, Surtees turned his attention to the pinnacle of four-wheel racing.</p>

<p><strong>1964</strong><br />
Much like his two-wheel triumphs, Surtees' greatest day in F1 came with an Italian team after trying to make it big with British squads, only to be noticed by a big factory team from Europe.</p>

<p>Racing campaigns from 1960 to 1962 resulted in three second place finishes from 21 F1 starts. Reliability in those days was nothing like it is today and retiring from a race was common for a lowly independent team.</p>

<p>Things changed drastically in 1963 when Surtees joined Ferrari to score three podiums, including his first win at the German GP.</p>

<p>Reliability played a part in the year he won the title, where his Ferrari retired four times from the ten races that counted towards the F1 crown. Five podiums from the five races he did finish until the season finale in Mexico City - including two wins - kept Surtees very much in the hunt for the title along with fellow Britons Jim Clark and Graham Hill.</p>

<p>Hill was the favourite, having a five point lead over Surtees and nine ahead of Clark. In order to win back to back titles, Clark would have to win but also count on his rival compatriots running into trouble. In qualifying, the Scotsman took pole and got away perfectly at the start. His two rivals did much worse: the strap on Hill’s goggles broke, while Surtees was slowed with an engine problem which rectified itself during the race.</p>

<p>At the end of the first lap, led, with Hill tenth and Surtees 13th before the two of them clawed their way up the order.</p>

<p>However, Hill was then slowed by a collision with Lorenzo Bandini in the other Ferrari. Hill's BRM was damaged and had to pit for repairs. At this point, it looked as though Clark was heading for the title but, with seven laps to go, the Lotus began to lose oil. On the final lap, the Lotus breathed its last and his race was over. Dan Gurney now led in the Brabham, followed by Bandini and Surtees. With Hill out of the points, Surtees still needed to finish second to take the title. Bandini did the decent thing as a team player, and Surtees went on to secure both titles.</p>

<p>Although technically, Surtees won the title for the North American Racing Team, as Ferrari had named itself following a dispute with the Italian racing authority over homologation of its new mid-engine racing car.</p>

<p>Of course, the bigger story was Surtees' unique feat of becoming a grand prix racing world champion on two and now four wheels was the far bigger story.</p>

<p>The Englishman stayed with the Italian squad for two more years before leaving to race with three more squads before doing so with a team bearing his own name until 1972.</p>

<p>But the years 1956 and 1964 are what will stand out as the definitive ones in a truly remarkable career.</p>
