The new 8-year warranty costs Rs 8,399 (+GST) for buyers who made purchases post-April 1, 2025. Existing 5-year warranty users can upgrade to the new plan for Rs 3,399 (+GST) within a one-month window.

Following the inauguration of its first showroom in Bengaluru,&nbsp;River in collaboration with Sri Rajarajeshwara EV Mobility has launched&nbsp;its first retail store in Hyderabad's&nbsp;Kukatpally. Spanning over&nbsp;1000 sq. ft., the store is designed to offer a first-hand look at all River offerings,&nbsp;including&nbsp;accessories and merchandise. It also has on display its maiden two-wheeler, the Indie electric scooter, the deliveries of which have commenced. Interested customers can visit the store, take a good look at the company's merchandise, book test rides or purchase the Indie. The Indie is available at Rs 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom, Hyderabad).

For those not aware, River revised the prices of the Indie&nbsp;in January 2024. With this,&nbsp;the Indie became&nbsp;Rs 13,000 more expensive than the time it was first launched (Rs 1.25 lakh, ex-showroom) in&nbsp;India. <h2>River Indie: Specs</h2>

The River Indie is equipped with a&nbsp;9bhp mid-mounted electric motor drawing power from a&nbsp;4kWh IP67-rated battery pack. The battery yields a claimed IDC range of 120km. According to River, the battery can be charged from 0 to 80 percent with a standard charger in five hours. Three ride modes are on offer as well&nbsp;–&nbsp;Rush, Ride, and Eco.

In terms of market competition, the Indie takes on the&nbsp;Ather 450S, Ola S1 Air, Bajaj Chetak Premium, and the TVS iQube.&nbsp;

River Indie e-Scooter Now Available in Hyderabad

River plans to expand its footprint in cities such as Chennai, Kochi, Coimbatore, Thiruvananthapuram, Ahmedabad, Surat, Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur, in the next few months, with an aspiration to ramp up its presence in 50+ cities by year-end. 

Yamaha Motor Company, one of the top two-wheeler manufacturers in the world, has invested in the Indian electric manufacturer River, giving it a substantial boost.&nbsp;A total of USD 40 million (approximately Rs&nbsp;333 crore) was invested in the Bengaluru-based company's Series B round, including contributions from current investors Al Futtaim Group, Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, and Maniv Mobility. The Japanese motorcycle giant contributed over USD 20 million, or roughly 60 per cent, of the total.&nbsp;River has now raised USD 68 million (about Rs&nbsp;565 crore) in total since it began operations in March 2021 thanks to this round.&nbsp;The firm currently operates a single outlet in Bengaluru, which&nbsp;opened last month and more will be added throughout 2024, beginning in southern India.&nbsp;With the funds, the company intends to increase R&amp;D expenditures for the upcoming product lineup and expand its nationwide distribution and service network.&nbsp;River had previously stated that it aims to produce 5,000 units per month by 2025.

According to <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/bike-news/yamaha-fz-x-chrome-edition-launched-in-india-at-rs-140-lakh-116077/">Yamaha</a>, the investment remains financial for the time being. The company expressed its excitement about River's founders, Aravind Mani and Vipin George, and their belief in the brand in a statement.

At a pre-launch price of Rs 1.25 lakh, River debuted its first product, the Indie electric scooter, in February 2023.&nbsp;According to the most recent vehicle registration data on the VAHAN portal, deliveries of Indie scooters started late in 2023 and the firm has delivered around 150 scooters in Bengaluru to date. The model carries a&nbsp;price tag of&nbsp;Rs 1.38 lakh (ex-showroom). For the uninitiated, the entire Indie design and development process took place at the River R&amp;D centre in Bengaluru, and the product was manufactured at the Hoskote factory.

The e-scooter has 14-inch wheels, a 770mm seat height, a telescopic fork, and a front and rear suspension system with twin shock absorbers. The Indie sports a 165mm ground clearance, 240mm/200mm (front/rear) disc braking setup, and CBS. It is said to have 18 degrees of gradeability (ability to climb inclines).

Feature Kit&nbsp;

Crash guards and front footpegs are two unique features of the River Indie. The e-scooter comes with two USB charging ports are also included, one on the handlebar and one in the glove box. Further, it offers a variety of add-on luggage choices, including a top box with a capacity of 25 litres and pannier sets with a capacity of up to 40 litres. The Indie comes with all-LED lighting and gets a coloured LCD dash. Moreover, it has three riding modes - Eco, Ride, and Rush.
