Jaguar F-Pace Highlights
There's no denying the fact that SUVs have become immensely popular, not just here in India but around the world as well. Car-makers of all kinds have jumped on to the bandwagon, and Jaguar is one of them. The all-new F-Pace is the brand's first SUV, and boasts of styling that is in sync with the company's design philosophy.
The F-Pace looks unlike anything else you've seen in the SUV space. At the front, it gets the large, signature Jaguar grille. And there are the slender headlamps that look like claw marks. The bonnet appears muscular, what with all the bold creases and curves creating a rippled effect. The bumper boasts of large intakes that also look quite aggressive. Along the sides, there's a high shoulder line, and those 19-inch wheels look fantastic. Coming to the rear – the best part about the F-Pace. The sleek tail lights look like they belong to the F-Type sportscar, and the sloping rear windshield adds some character to the overall silhouette.
The Jaguar F-Pace variants are as follows: Prestige. For the price, Jaguar F-Pace features a 10.2-inch touchscreen with navigation, a 380W Meridian sound system, four-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch virtual TFT instrument cluster, adaptive LED headlamps, ambient lighting, electric reclining rear seats, front and rear parking sensors, panoramic sunroof, reversing camera, Taurus leather seats, keyless entry and go and 10-way electric adjustment with driver seat memory. On the safety front, it gets lane-keep assist and 360-degree parking aid.
Inside the cabin, the Jaguar F-Pace new model has a lot of bits that look like they belong in the XE sedan. The dashboard is swathed in black and gets red contrast stitching to go with the upholstery. There are some hard plastics though. Then there is the ambient lighting that up-lifts the cabin a little. The large glasshouse contributes to the cabin's roomy feeling. Up-front, the seats provide good support and are pretty comfortable, while occupants at the rear can recline their seats, giving way for more legroom. Boot space is eaten up by the full-sized spare tyre.
Engine Specifications & Performance
The Jaguar F-Pace comes powered by a 2.0-litre Ingenium petrol and a 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine. In our time with the F-Pace, we only got a chance to test the diesel that produces 179hp and 430Nm of torque. Paired to the motor is an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. The engine performs well in the mid-range, but it can get a bit noisy when the engine spins faster. Around corners, the F-Pace is enjoyable, as the steering is well weighted and gives the driver a lot of confidence to push it harder. Even bad roads are tackled well in the city; the F-Pace is also sure-footed at higher speeds. Since the difference is marginal, we’d recommend picking up the diesel for a slight bump over Jaguar F-Pace on-road price in comparison to its petrol counterpart.
The Jaguar F-Pace's ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure is rated at 16.38kmpl for the Diesel variant and 14.38kmpl for the petrol variant.
