The Jaguar E-Type, produced from 1961 to 1974, remains one of the most iconic classic cars in automotive history. Inspired by Jaguar’s Le Mans-winning D-Type race car, the E-Type Series 1 originally featured a 3.8-litre inline-six engine, later upgraded to 4.2 litres. Despite its stunning looks and motorsport heritage, many believed the E-Type deserved a V12 engine. Well, the folks at ECD Automotive Design have certainly made that wish come true.
The design firm has created a E-Type Series 1 with a original Jaguar V12 engine that puts out 400bhp.This restomod. The upgraded E-Type not only honours its racing roots but also adds new appeal for collectors and fans of vintage British sports cars.
Elliot Humble, ECD’s Chief Technical Officer, said: 'This car pushed the limits of what’s possible when blending three generations of E-Type architecture. Series I body, Series II chassis, Series III power — every part was reconsidered, refined, and reengineered to work in harmony.'
'This wasn’t just a technical challenge,” he added. “It was a reward. Because once it all came together, and we rolled it out for the first time, we knew this was something the world had never seen — and might never see again.'
This Jaguar E-Type restomod is finished in Metallic British Racing Green, a classic shade with a modern twist. As mentioned before, it houses a rebuilt Jaguar V12 engine by Team CJ in Texas, paired with ECD’s custom fuel injection and cooling systems. It features fully adjustable suspension, a quick-ratio steering rack, and strong 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brakes. The 15-inch Turrino Wire Wheels with Pirelli tyres complete the look, blending classic style with confident handling.
Inside the Jaguar E-Type GTO, vintage design meets modern craftsmanship. The cabin features GTS Classic Car Seats upholstered in premium Spinneybeck Lucente Hercules leather with vertical fluting. A brushed aluminium dashboard, Moal Bomber gauges, and classic toggle switches capture the spirit of 1960s British sports cars, giving the interior a period-correct and bespoke look.
This Jaguar E-Type restomod also includes hidden modern features like Bluetooth connectivity, heated seats, USB ports, automatic headlights, and power locks. A custom removable hardtop offers the flexibility of open-top grand touring or closed-roof comfort. With this interior upgrade, the Jaguar E-Type GTO delivers a refined blend of luxury, heritage, and everyday usability.
