<p><em><strong>Billed as a mini-SUV, the all-new Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is powered by a BS-VI compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine and is offered in both manual and AMT versions. </strong></em></p>

<p>Here it is, folks! The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso has been finally revealed, and it’s now on sale in India. Billed as a mini-SUV, the latest product from the country’s largest carmaker has been launched at a starting price of Rs 3.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The S-Presso is available in a single-engine variant and offered with either a manual gearbox or an AMT (automated manual transmission, or AGS).</p>

<p>The S-Presso's design is definitely a polarising topic, as it looks quite odd. However, Maruti says that it’s a mini-SUV, and it follows a ‘bold’ approach. Highlights of the S-Presso’s design include a bold chrome grille, oval headlamps, and an upright stance. The S-Presso comes with 14-inch wheels – no alloys on offer, but wheel caps are available with the top-end variants. Overall, its design will take some time to get used to. However, since it’s positioned at the budget end of the segment, the S-Presso’s quirky design shouldn’t be a deal-breaker for many.</p>

<p>The S-Presso is based on Maruti Suzuki’s Heartect platform, which uses 40% high tensile steel that ensures stronger, safer and sturdier structure. Powering the car is the same 1.0-litre K10 series engine as the Alto. The engine is BS-VI compliant and develops a peak power output of 67bhp @ 5,500rpm along with a torque of 90Nm at 3,500rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.</p>

<p>Inside, the S-Presso features an all-black cabin with ‘bright pop-up’ accents around the centrally mounted instrument cluster. The S-Presso also comes with a ‘SmartPlay’ touchscreen infotainment system, which is similar to the one offered in the new WagonR. This also gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity features. The S-Presso also comes with steering mounted controls.</p>

<p>Safety net includes dual airbags, ABS with EBD, seat belts with pre-tensioners and force Limiters, driver/co-driver seat belt reminder, a rear parking assist system, high-speed warning alert, and reverse parking sensors.</p>

<p>The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso will compete against the Renault Kwid 1.0 and Datsun Redigo 1.0.</p>
