<p>Since its launch in India early last year, the Maserati Levante has been on sale with just a single engine variant. The Italian brand had taken the wraps off the Levante Trofeo in March 2018 at the New York Auto Show, and now it is all set to make its way to India towards the end of 2019. Interestingly, India will be one of the first right-hand drive markets to receive the Trofeo. But that’s not just the only thing that makes it special.</p>

<p>The Levante Trofeo is the most powerful production Maserati ever. Developing 582bhp and 730Nm from a 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo, the Levante Trofeo can do the 0-100km/h dash in just 3.9 seconds and record a top speed of 300km/h. Just like all other Maserati petrol offerings, this one too borrows its motor from Ferrari. All the power that it makes is sent to all four wheels with the help of Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive System.</p>

<p>The performance aspirations of the Levante Trofeo are made clear thanks to the addition of carbon fibre in the lower splitter, the side blades in the front air intakes, side skirts, and the redesigned rear bumper. The hood has been redesigned and has two aggressive air intakes for improved cylinder head cooling. Inside, the car also gets sculpted sports seats with ‘Pieno Fiore’ natural leather with Trofeo insignia etched on the head rests. This seat is available in three colours – red, tan and black.</p>

<p>Expect the Maserati Levante Trofeo to be priced at about Rs 2.5 crore when it gets launched in India. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>After helping develop the Dodge Hellcat and Demons both of which churn out 700-840 horsepower respectively, one would expect the new Maserati boss, Tim Kuniskis to know what he is doing. Which is exactly why Maserati has now decided to give us the most powerful production Maserati ever, with the new Levante Trofeo. Maserati took the wraps off the new super SUV at the New York Auto Show.</p>

<p>The Maserati Levante Trofeo gets a 3.8-litre, Twinturbo V8 which can generate 591bhp @ 6,250 rpm and 730Nm of torque between 2,250 rpm – 5,000 rpm. This results in a 0-100km/h time of just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 300km/h aided by the Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive System. This engine is borrowed from Ferrari and it will be hand built in Maranello, while the production of the Levante Trofeo will begin this summer at the refurbished Maserati plant in Mirafiori (Turin), Italy.</p>

<p>“It’s proof that when you play with the elements you end up in a storm”, says Maserati CEO Tim Kuniskis. “In the case of Trofeo, the engineers and designers in Modena knew that the driveline parameters were more than able to cope with additional power and they also knew that Maserati had access to the finest engines on earth. So, they were up to the challenge of making the finest luxury SUV also the fastest”.</p>

<p>Though it may not be as powerful as the 641bhp Lamborghini Urus, the Levante Trofeo may just be a glimpse of what can be expected from Ferrari as they have confirmed that an SUV from Maranello is also on its way soon.</p>
