<p>Toyota has officially revealed the TR010 Hybrid, a new prototype that will spearhead its 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign. This car replaces the GR010 Hybrid that first raced in 2021 and marks a clear step forward in Toyota’s long-term endurance racing plans. The TR010 Hybrid will be shown publicly for the first time at the Tokyo Auto Salon from 9 to 11 January. The new hypercar is more than a routine update, as Toyota treats the TR010 as the foundation of a wider team reset ahead of the new season, covering design, testing focus, and overall direction for its future in the Hypercar class. The TR010 Hybrid completed its first shakedown at Circuit Paul Ricard in October 2025, running in camouflage. Toyota then tested the car at Lusail International Circuit on 10 and 12 December, which is also where the 2026 season will begin on 28 March. Wind tunnel work continues in Cologne and North Carolina to refine the overall package.</p><p>

The front bodywork now looks slimmer, with headlamp styling inspired by current Toyota road cars. A new gullwing-style rear wing is in place, while the sidepods have been reshaped to improve airflow and stability during long race stints.</p><p>

It blends Toyota’s endurance history with a modern Hypercar feel.</p><p>Away from the track, Toyota has made changes to its structure as well. Its Cologne base is now called Toyota Racing GmbH, replacing Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe GmbH from 7 January 2026. After finishing second in the 2025 Hypercar manufacturers’ standings behind Ferrari, Toyota heads into 2026 aiming for an eighth constructors’ title and a return to Le Mans success, last achieved in 2022.</p>

From the teasers,&nbsp;the Urban Cruiser EV appears to borrow styling cues from the Urban Cruiser BEV concept showcased at last&nbsp;year’s Auto Expo, including a robust bumper, sleek headlights, a charging port positioned above the front fender,&nbsp;and a BEV emblem. </p><p>The <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/toyota/urban-cruiser-ev/">Urban Cruiser EV</a> marks Toyota’s first shared electric vehicle project&nbsp;with Maruti Suzuki. The e-Vitara offers two battery sizes (a 49kWh unit and a 61kWh pack), spread across three trims: Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV Teased Ahead of India Launch on January 19

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is essentially a rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, prices of which are set to be announced soon.

<p>Toyota is gearing up to introduce its version of the e Vitara in India as the Urban Cruiser EV between January 19 and 20, as part of its ongoing collaboration with <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/maruti-suzuki/">Maruti Suzuki</a>. The Japanese automaker already offers rebadged&nbsp;variants of several popular Maruti Suzuki cars, including the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/toyota/urban-cruiser-hyryder/">Urban Cruiser Hyryder</a> (based on the Grand Vitara), <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/toyota/glanza/">Glanza</a> (Baleno), <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/toyota/urban-cruiser-taisor/">Urban Cruiser Taisor</a> (Fronx), and Rumion (Ertiga).&nbsp;</p><p>The upcoming <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/toyota/urban-cruiser-ev/">Urban Cruiser EV </a>will expand this lineup, drawing its foundation from the yet-to-be-launched Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Toyota has already unveiled the Urban Cruiser BEV concept at last year’s Auto Expo,&nbsp;and while its overall shape resembles the Donar model, there are some unique features that help the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/toyota/">Toyota</a> version stand apart. </p><p>The Urban Cruiser EV features a chrome strip connecting the headlights, 12-piece LED DRLs, a front wheel arch charging port, blacked-out door trims, aero-optimized wheels, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a bold rear bumper with a central reflector. It was initially showcased as a concept&nbsp;in Brussels in 2023 before being revealed in production-ready form in December 2024. The base 49kWh version is likely to feature a front-wheel-drive setup, and produce 142bhp and 189Nm.&nbsp; Meanwhile, the 61kWh variant will increase power with a 172bhp front motor while keeping the same torque.&nbsp;</p><p>An all-wheel-drive configuration is expected to pair the 61kWh battery with an additional 64bhp rear motor,&nbsp;delivering a combined output of 181bhp and 300Nm, making it the most performance-oriented option in the lineup. </p>

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, Based on Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, to Make India Debut in January

The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV is expected to be priced at around Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, the Hyundai Creta EV, and its donor model, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

<p>Toyota sold 3.89 lakh units overall in the calendar year 2025, marking a 19% increase from 3.26 lakh units sold in 2024. The domestic market contributed 3.52 lakh units to the total,&nbsp;registering a solid 17%&nbsp;growth. Meanwhile, the global shipments demonstrated strong momentum, rising sharply by 42% to 37,221 units.&nbsp;Toyota has stated that the strong results&nbsp;achieved during the calendar year were driven by consistent sales momentum through December 2025,&nbsp;reflecting TKM’s steadfast commitment to providing high-quality, reliable, and safe&nbsp;mobility solutions. The company continues to sharpen its focus&nbsp;on innovation, advanced safety, and superior product quality to enhance customer value.</p><h2>Toyota December 2025 Sales</h2><p>Toyota’s total sales reached 39,333 units in December, reflecting a 33% year-on-year increase compared to 29,529 units in December 2024. The domestic market remained the key growth driver, with 34,157 units, up 37% from 24,887&nbsp;units a year ago. Toyota India Posts 19% Sales Growth in 2025 with 3.89 Lakh Units Sold

Toyota sold 39,333 units overall in December 2025, representing a growth of 33% over 29,529 units sold in the same month in 2024.

<p>The world’s number one hybrid manufacturer, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/toyota/">Toyota</a>, has decided to show how serious they are in producing clean cars in India by arranging a drive to let us get a first hand experience of the 2015 Camry Hybrid. Though the Japanese giant will insist this is an all new hybrid flagship model, but the Camry is more of a facelift, which was needed for sometime now. Though this car offers many features, a spacious cabin and comfortable seats, it never really became a popular choice. The problem is that sedans priced in the Rs 25-30 lakhs segment end up making way for the mighty German sedans. They are more expensive and are tight in space, but buyers aspire to the luxury brands from Munich and Stuttgart. As a result the Japanese cars are left high and dry. But this time Toyota has a plan that doesn’t solely rely on the affluent angle rather on lowering the cost-per-kilometre with its hybrid technology and keep the environment clean.</p>

<p>Toyota, thankfully, has changed the Camry’s exteriors as it was ageing. The more angular front nose with a huge trapezoidal grille has added some character to the docile looking Camry. This massive air vent comes with a borderline chrome finish with fog lamps beautifully tucked inside the front bumper. The nose grille is slimmer now and has a thick chrome strip running across it. If that wasn’t enough for the Camry to show its new found attitude, the new head lamps with integrated LEDs look like Katana blades. The dagger shaped turning lights are smartly placed right below the head lamps and in front of the wheel arches to give the driver additional visibility. Now the side profile remains the same and is the blandest part of the Camry. There are some minor changes in the rear like new tail lights and a lot more muscular rear bumper.</p>

<p>The cabin continues to feel like an airy lounge with some upgraded features. Toyota has beautifully used both wood panels and chrome inserts making the interiors feel classy as a yacht. The new u-shaped centre console gets a touchscreen entertainment system, a 3-zone climate control, which can set individual temperatures for the driver, front and rear seats. The air conditioner also purifies the air thanks to the nanoe technology, which lets you breathe clean air. The seats remain big and comfortable, and pampers you like a ‘Lazy Boy’ recliner would. The rear seats recline back by 8 degrees making the ride a relaxed one. As it is summer time, chances of the sun beating down your neck is highly likely. So by just the press of a button the sunshade covers the rear windscreen.</p>

<p>The heart or the engine of the Camry hybrid remains the same. It is powered by a 2.5-litre, 159bhp petrol engine assisted by a 141bhp electric motor. It has a total power of 202bhp and not 300bhp because both the motor and the engine don’t hit top range output together as this lets the Camry balance both power and mileage. It is still a very smooth car, with linear acceleration, which can also be quick thanks to the torque’s pulling power. The Camry comes in two driving modes Eco and <a href="https://www.autox.com/electric-cars-in-india/">EV</a>. The Eco mode is when it’s on hybrid power. The acceleration is smooth and the CVT gearbox ensures there is enough punch in the engine and the driving experience remains seamless. The EV mode is all about the 1.6 AH nickel-metal-hydride battery letting the Camry combat stop-start traffic by being a pollutant free car, and it can run for a couple of kilometres under 40kph.</p>

<p>Apart from its looks, everything else about the Camry hybrid remains the same. You may wonder why Toyota is trying so hard to make this model a mainstream one. For starters, they sold 523 units of the hybrid in 2014 compared to 197 units of the petrol Camry. This shows that people want to buy a clean car. Therefore, Toyota wants to make the hybrid model as affordable as possible, by being the first car manufacturer to assemble a hybrid car in India. And now with the government’s new FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) scheme, Toyota will straight away slash Rs 70,000 as rebate. But the Camry hybrid still remains an expensive option as it is available at Rs 31.92 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Camry is a luxurious car, which comes with acres of cabin space and has all bells and whistles. It is a good option as it provides unbelievable comfort, but it lacks the clout of a luxury brand like the Germans do, which might go against the Camry.</p>
