The new Toyota Hilux is expected to retain the mild-hybrid 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine from the current model, with the addition of conventional petrol as well as diesel units available in select markets.

The new Toyota Hilux's 48-volt technology comprises a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine; a motor generator; a 48-volt battery; a six-speed automatic transmission; as well as a DC/DC converter enabling a stop/start system.

The waiting for the Toyota Hilux has been revealed for the Indian market. The pickup truck has a starting price of Rs 30.40 lakh and comes in three variants: Standard, High, and High AT.

The Toyota Hilux Pickup Truck has become the latest vehicle to join the Indian Army’s fleet, which includes models like the Mahindra Scorpio, the Tata Safari Storme (GS800), and more. In terms of the powertrain, the Hilux gets a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine.

The Toyota Hilux currently has only one rival in the Indian market, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross. But, the V-Cross is far cheaper, with prices ranging between Rs 23 lakh and Rs 27 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Hilux stands between Rs 30.40 lakh and Rs 37.90 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. 

Toyota has reduced the cost of the Hilux Standard MT by Rs 3.59 lakh. Consequently, the Hilux now has a starting price of Rs 30.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The automaker increased the prices of the High MT and High AT variants by Rs 1.35 lakh and Rs 1.10 lakh, respectively, while lowering the base price.

Toyota showcased the Hilux back in January, and we were all left wondering what its price was going to be. It has now been launched and is available in two variants. Both can be had with the manual transmission, whereas the automatic transmission is only available in the higher-spec variant.
