Hyundai Tucson Spotted In India

Hyundai India is all set to bring in the next generation of Tucson crossover-SUV. A few units have been spied in transit confirming that the launch of the 2022 Tucson is likely to be held soon.

Some exciting new cars and motorcycles are coming towards us in the next year. One of them is the all-new generation of the Hyundai Tucson. Now, the outgoing Hyundai Tucson has been phased out in the international market and has been replaced by the updated crossover SUV which gets an all-new platform, engine options, and styling which is more in line with the brand’s new design philosophy.

The outgoing Tucson (India spec) hasn’t received enough attention from Hyundai India, whereas, the segment has seen some serious new entrants. Citroen has the C5 Aircross on offer, Jeep has the updated Compass and Volkswagen has recently re-introduced the Tiguan in the same segment.

Seeing all this, Hyundai India may offer the upgraded Tucson very soon. We suspect the next-gen Tucson will make its debut in Q1 of 2022.

Just as the Compass, the new Tucson will be offered in both petrol, as well as, diesel engine; unlike the C5 Aircross which is offered in the diesel guise only or the Tiguan facelift which gets only the petrol power plant.

Overseas, the Hyundai Tucson is offered with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system with petrol and diesel engine, but we do not think Hyundai India will offer the mild-hybrid system as it will only up the pricing of the SUV. Instead, expect the same powertrains to be offered in the new model, however, with a fair share of updates to the engine and the gearbox.

2022 Hyundai Tucson Cabin Details

Currently, the Hyundai Tucson is priced between Rs. 22.70 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs. 27.47 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model is likely to be priced higher and the top-of-the-line variant is expected to breach the Rs. 30 lakh mark.
