2024 BMW 5 Series LWB vs Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB Spec Comparison: Price

The BMW 5 Series, available in a single petrol variant, carries a price tag of Rs 72.90 lakh. Meanwhile, the price range of the E-Class LWB, offered in both petrol and diesel versions, varies between Rs 76.05 lakh to Rs 89.15 lakh. All mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is significantly more expensive than the new 5 Series as the latter lacks several features. Furthermore, the E-Class has an edge with diesel engine options, such as a powerful six-cylinder unit, whereas BMW has not yet introduced a long-wheelbase diesel version of the 5 Series.

Let's talk about the available engines. As was previously noted, only one petrol engine option is available for the 2024 BMW 5-Series LWB. It features a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology. The engine produces 255bhp of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque and is mated with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The E-Class LWB, on the other hand, has a range of engine options. A 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in the E200 produces 194bhp and 320Nm of torque. Next, a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with 400Nm of torque and 192bhp powers the E220d. Lastly, a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 282bhp and 600Nm of torque propells the top-of-the-line E350d version. All three engines come equipped with a 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox.
