The compact sedan segment in India is abuzz with two prominent contenders vying for consumer attention: the 2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Tata Tigor. Both models cater to buyers seeking practicality, comfort, and affordability, but they adopt distinct design, features, and performance approaches. While Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire boasts a legacy of reliability and efficiency, the Tata Tigor emphasises a robust build. With each brand introducing updates to appeal to the evolving preferences of Indian customers, comparing their specifications becomes crucial. From engine options to safety features and technology, this article delves into the key differences between these two popular sedans, helping buyers make an informed decision tailored to their needs.

2024 Maruti Suzuki Dzire vs Tata Tigor Spec Comparison: Price

Maruti Suzuki’s latest Dzire is offered in four variants: LXi, VXi, ZXi, and ZXi+. Prices start at Rs 6.79 lakh and go up to Rs 10.14 lakh for the top model. These introductory prices are valid until December 31. The brand also offers a subscription plan starting at Rs 18,248/month, covering registration, insurance, maintenance, and roadside assistance. The Dzire continues to be available with both petrol and CNG powertrains.

Meanwhile, Tata’s Tigor is priced between Rs 6 lakh and Rs 9.40 lakh. It is the only sedan in India to offer a CNG-AMT combination, available in two trims: XZA CNG at Rs 8.70 lakh and XZA+ CNG at Rs 9.40 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

The latest Dzire features a new 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine, delivering 80bhp at 5,700rpm and 112Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. In the CNG variants, the output is slightly lower, with 69bhp at 5,700rpm and 102Nm at 2,900rpm.

In comparison, the Tata Tigor is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. This mill is available with either a five-speed manual transmission or an AMT. For CNG, the Tigor’s engine generates 72bhp and 95Nm of torque, paired exclusively with a five-speed manual gearbox.

In terms of size, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire measures 3,995mm in length, 1,735mm in width, and 1,525mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450mm.

Tigor Rear

The Tata Tigor, while slightly shorter at 3,993mm and narrower at 1,677mm, is taller than the Dzire with a height of 1,532mm. It shares the same wheelbase as the Dzire, measuring 2,450mm.

The 2024 Dzire’s interior draws significant inspiration from the new Swift but incorporates unique updates. The cabin features a dual-tone dashboard with wood-finish accents. Key highlights include a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Arkamys surround sound, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, cruise control, an electric sunroof, rear AC vents, a rear armrest, and Suzuki Connect. Standard safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a rear defogger.

Tata Tigor Interior

Meanwhile, the Tigor comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with four speakers and tweeters, a height-adjustable driver seat, connected car technology, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), cruise control, auto air conditioning, and hill ascent/descent control, among other features.
