2024 Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S Performance SUV Unveiled, Gets Standard 20-inch Wheels and AMG Steering Wheel

Mercedes-Benz has updated the AMG derivative of the GLA 45 S. Revealed for the international market as a 2024 model, the compact performance SUV benefits from a few subtle design tweaks, including new LED light signatures on both the headlamps and taillamps, a redesigned front apron, body-coloured wheel arch extensions, as well as an MG crest mounted to the bonnet. But, the biggest talking point here is the standard 20-inch alloy wheels with red brake callipers that the updated GLA 45 S brings with it. Changes continue inside the cabin as well, with the new GLA 45 S featuring the latest version of the AMG Performance steering wheel as standard, new upholstery, an upgraded MBUX infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an additional USB-C port. Optional bits you can spec your vehicle with include 21-inch wheels and AMG performance seats. 

Speaking of wheels, the wheel sizes range from 19-inch AMG 10-spoke wheels, two versions of 20-inch AMG five-twin-spoke wheels to optional 21-inch multi-spoke or cross-spoke wheels.

2024 Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S: Powertrain, Performance

Underneath the skin, the 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 S continues to come powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine that makes 416bhp and 500Nm of peak torque. Power and torque are transmitted to an all-wheel-drive system via an 8-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission. Consequently, the performance SUV is said to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds, while the top speed stands at 270km/h (claimed). 

Additionally, the car also comes standard with a Race mode that, in combination with the all-wheel-drive system and AMG Torque Control System, is said to apportion power & torque not only between the axles but also between the rear wheels.  

Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Concept EV Introduced

As part of the collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre), the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Concept electric vehicle was recently showcased at the country's cultural destination in Mumbai. The German marque's concept car will continue to remain on display here for the next couple of months. Debuted in 2016 at Pebble Beach in California, the Maybach 6 is an all-electric aero coupe with a distinctive appearance that makes it stand out from other high-end vehicles. The classic visual proportions of the 1930s Maybach aero coupe serve as an inspiration for the vehicle.

Equipped with a PMS electric motor for each wheel, the Vision Maybach 6 comes with all-wheel drive. The 80kWh battery pack underneath enables the four electric motors to provide a combined output of 740bhp. Consequently, the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 is claimed to go from 0 to 100km/h in less than four seconds. Furthermore, it boasts an electronically capped top speed of 250km/h. According to the manufacturer, the concept vehicle has an NEDC-claimed range of 500 kilometres on a single charge.
