Citroen has officially unveiled the 2025 C5 Aircross, bringing a fresh wave of innovation with a new EV powertrain option, marking the SUV’s bold entry into the electric era. Alongside the electrified upgrade, the facelifted model boasts a sleek 13-inch portrait-style infotainment screen, enhancing connectivity and user interaction. The updated C5 Aircross also features significant design refinements, improved comfort elements, and advanced driver-assistance technologies, all aimed at delivering a more premium and eco-conscious driving experience. With this launch, Citroen continues its push toward electrification while retaining the brand’s hallmark of comfort and style.
The 2025 Citroen C5 Aircross introduces a significant departure from its predecessor with a design overhaul rooted in the brand’s 2024 concept car revealed in Munich. The front end has been completely revamped, showcasing a more sculpted bumper, slimmer LED headlights, and a redesigned lighting signature that collectively lend the SUV a sharper, more futuristic look. New 20-inch alloy wheels further elevate its presence, while aerodynamic tweaks subtly enhance overall efficiency without altering its recognisable upright stance. At the rear, updated taillight graphics and beefier black cladding contribute to a more rugged, muscular appearance.

In terms of dimensions, the SUV has grown substantially – its overall length is now 4,652mm, and the wheelbase has been extended by 600mm, creating more room for passengers and cargo.
Under the skin, the C5 Aircross now offers an expanded powertrain portfolio, including a full-electric version alongside mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. These models are built on Stellantis’ STLA Medium platform, which also underpins other future offerings in the group, such as the DS No7. Regardless of the configuration, all versions are front-wheel-driven and come exclusively with automatic gearboxes.
The hybrid version utilises a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, which is integrated with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a compact 0.9kWh battery. This system delivers a combined output, with the petrol engine producing 136bhp and the electric motor contributing 28bhp. Power is transmitted via a 6-speed eDCS dual-clutch automatic transmission, ensuring smooth and efficient transitions between combustion and electric drive.
For buyers seeking greater electrification, the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant steps things up with a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, paired with a larger 21kWh battery and an electric motor. The system delivers a total output of 195bhp and is mated to a 7-speed eDCS dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Drivers can toggle between three modes – Hybrid, Electric, and Sport – depending on their driving priorities. In pure electric mode, the PHEV offers a zero-emission range of up to 86 km and can reach speeds of 135km/h.

At the top of the lineup is the fully electric C5 Aircross, available with two battery sizes: a 73kWh unit that offers up to 520 km of driving range, and a larger 97kWh pack that pushes the range to 680 km. This all-electric model also provides three selectable driving modes – Normal, Eco, and Sport – allowing drivers to adjust performance characteristics and energy use based on terrain, traffic, or personal preference.
Inside, the cabin has been thoroughly reimagined under the “C-Zen Lounge” concept, emphasising digital integration and passenger comfort. Taking centre stage is a large, portrait-oriented 13-inch infotainment touchscreen – the largest ever fitted to a Stellantis vehicle – suspended above a streamlined console with physical shortcut keys for intuitive control. Complementing this are a wireless charging pad, ChatGPT integration, panoramic glass roof, concealed cupholders, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, configurable ambient lighting, and a head-up display.
Material quality and seat design have seen noticeable upgrades. The cabin is lined with soft, foam-backed textiles across the seating surfaces, dashboard, and doors. The front seats boast a suite of premium features including massage functions, ventilation, heating, and power adjustment. Rear passengers benefit from reclining seatbacks and optional heating, though the previously offered trio of individual sliding seats has been replaced with a more conventional bench setup for this generation.
