At the New York International Auto Show, Hyundai unveiled its thoroughly revamped 2025 Tucson. In addition to the standard ICE version, the SUV will now be available with plug-in hybrid and hybrid powertrains. Hyundai says that these options will be introduced gradually in the US market. Beginning in June, the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder version of the model will be available in showrooms, while the hybrid powertrains will be available for purchase by the end of the summer. Price details for the model will be made official in the run-up to the market launch. The company has also announced an upgraded Santa Cruz pickup truck for the 2025 model year. At the Auto show, Hyundai showcased the truck as well.

2025 Hyundai Tucson: Exterior and Interior Elements

Although it features exterior and interior design modifications, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson SUV retains the same overall silhouette as that of the current model and is easily recognisable. The model's design elements comprise a revised parametric grille with DRLs, updated front and back bumpers, anodised aluminium badges, fresh alloy wheel designs, 75mm longer rear wiper blades, and new roof rails.

As you move inside the cabin, you will notice that the South Korean automaker has significantly revamped the interior, which now includes a new steering wheel, dashboard, and a curved display with a 12.3-inch infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster. New knobs and switchgear for often-used functions like the music and climate settings along with new USB ports are present in the centre stack. On trims that use shift-by-wire technology, the gear lever has been relocated from the centre console to the steering column. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are standard across the line-up, and for the first time, customers can opt for a 12-inch colour head-up display. What's more, the 2025 iteration of Tucson is compatible with over-the-air updates.

The ADAS suite of the car, too, has undergone improvements. To promote safe driving, the 2025 model gets a Forward Attention Warning (FAW) feature, which uses an infrared camera installed on the steering column to monitor the driver's eye gaze to track their degree of attentiveness. Available Smart Cruise Control 2 continuously assesses driver attention. If the driver seems to be unresponsive, the system safely brings the vehicle to a halt and activates the hazard lights and electronic parking brake. Additionally, rear outboard passenger seatbelts now include standard pretensioners and load limiters.

2025 Hyundai Tucson: Engine and Gearbox Options

Mechanically, the 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine that powers the Tucson is still coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can be had with front- or all-wheel drive. The unit produces 187bhp of maximum power. Furthermore, a 268bhp plug-in hybrid setup or a 231bhp hybrid setup is also available.

Owners can now employ different levels of regenerative braking. Interestingly, both models come with an all-wheel-drive system. Hyundai has also incorporated three additional drive-mode options. Along with the individually configurable My Drive, there is also a Baby mode, which aids in delivering smoother acceleration. When the car is in its EV mode, the Green Zone mode, which is intended for plug-in hybrid powertrains, helps to enhance its range.

The carmaker has not yet disclosed the prices of the 2025 Tucson range, but we expect it to cost more than the outgoing models. The starting price of the 2024 2.5-litre model is USD 28,875 (about Rs 24.08 lakh), USD 33,950 (around Rs 28.31 lakh) for the hybrid version, and USD 40,100 (about Rs 33.43 lakh) for the PHEV version. According to Hyundai, the petrol-only models will be the first to go on sale, arriving at dealers in June. The plug-in hybrid and hybrid models will arrive later in the summer.

In the Indian market, the car is available for purchase in its 4th generation avatar and competes with the Jeep Compass, the Citroen C5 Aircoss, and the Volkswagen Tiguan.
