Toyota seems to be working on a major update for the Fortuner, as spy shots of the popular ladder-frame SUV undergoing testing abroad have surfaced online. The spotted test mule was heavily camouflaged, but some features were still noticeable, including a refreshed front fascia and an ADAS radar module. Currently, the Fortuner is running in its second-generation here and is priced starting at Rs 34.16 lakh (ex-showroom). With anticipated improvements in both safety features and exterior styling, the updated model is likely to see a price increase of around Rs 2 lakh. Let’s take a closer look at the design and feature upgrades that the next-generation Fortuner may bring to the table.

The overall silhouette looks the same, but a few cosmetic updates can be seen in the most recent spy images. The front end shows a flatter bonnet, upright stance, a larger grille, redesigned bumper featuring lower-positioned fog lamps, the lower-set primary headlamps, and high-mounted slim DRLs. refreshed tailgate and a redesigned bumper. One of the biggest safety upgrades is the addition of an ADAS radar in the lower bumper, with cameras behind the windshield. The rear now appears more squared-off, featuring a reworked tailgate and revised bumper.

While the interior has not yet been spotted in the images, the next-gen Fortuner is likely to feature electrically adjustable, ventilated front seats, dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless charging, and automatic climate control, among other features.
Beneath the surface, the upcoming Toyota Fortuner is expected to remain the same, meaning the 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engine options will continue to be offered. Both manual and automatic transmissions are also likely to remain available. That said, Toyota may introduce strong hybrid and electric versions to the lineup sometime in the future.
Following its global debut, which is expected in Q2 2026, the updated Fortuner is set to make its way to our shores. However, there is no confirmation as of now.
