The winners of the 2026 World Car Awards have been announced at the New York International Auto Show. The Lucid Gravity has claimed the World Luxury Car title, marking the American company’s second win in this category after 2023, when the Air sedan took home the prestigious award. The iX3 has emerged as both the World Electric Car and overall World Car of the Year, while the Firefly has earned the 2026 World Urban Car award. The Lucid Gravity was selected from a total of eight contenders, and it went on to surpass the Cadillac Vistiq and Volvo ES90 to ultimately claim the honour.
The contenders of the World Luxury Car Awards are required to have a minimum annual production of 5,000 units and be sold across at least two major markets on separate continents, ranging from China and Europe to the USA or Latin America, between January 1, 2025, and March 30, 2026. They should also have luxury-level prices in their key markets.
A jury of 98 automotive experts from across 33 nations meticulously assessed the contenders for the 2026 World Car Awards. Their evaluation spanned months, and focused across a wide spectrum of parameters.
