The all new Mercedes-Benz E-Class has been officially unveiled globally with engine specifications and more details.

"The Most Intelligent Business Saloon" is what Mercedes is calling their all new E-Class that they have officially unveiled and is to arrive at Indian shores in 2016.

New 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class rear

Out of the 4 engine variants that have been released, three are to be launched in India. The E200 has a 1991cc/4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 185bhp and 300Nm of torque. 0-100km/h time of the E200 is claimed to be 7.7 seconds. The E220d will get an all new 1950cc/4-cylinder diesel engine producing 195bhp and 400Nm of torque and is claim to reach 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds. The E350d will have a 2987cc/V6 diesel that churns out 258bhp and 620Nm of torque. 5.9 seconds is what Mercedes claims will take the E350d to accelerate from 0-100km/h. More engines will be introduced including in addition to the E350e hybrid. But its unlikely for their arrival to India. All engines will be mated to Mercedes' 9G TRONIC 9-Speed Automatic transmission.

New 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class front classic Grille

The new E-Class also gets updated exterior and interior. At the front you have 2 options, of either the Classic Mercedes radiator grille with the logo mounted on top of the bonnet or the 'Avantgarde' twin slat grille with the three-point star logo in the centre. The grille is accentuated by the new front bumpers that vary upon the choice of grille. The rear boot has been reshaped from a chiseled boot lid to a more curved flowing shape with new LED tail lamps.

New 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior

The interior gets updated to align itself with the new design and technology philosophy of Mercedes with a floating 12.3 inch screen. The steering wheel also has a touch sensitive dial on both sides which the driver can use to navigate through the infotainment system with a simple swipe of a finger without taking their hands of the steering wheel. The COMAND touch dial system from the S-Class and the C-Class has also been introduced in the new E-Class. In addition to that, the car comes included with a LINGUATRONIC voice command system.

The new E-Class will be launch around the 3rd quarter of 2016 in India to compete with the BMW 5 series, the Audi A6, the Jaguar XF and the upcoming Volvo S90.
