Aston Martin have released images that show the upcoming DB11 Volante, the convertible version of the all new sportscar.

When we at autoX saw the new DB11 revealed for the very first time, none of us had buckets big enough to contain the drool that was dripping from our open jawed mouths on a our gorgonised faces. And at that time in Geneva, Aston has only shown us the hard top DB11.

But we all knew it was coming, we just didn’t know when. Now Aston Martin have finally released some images of the upcoming DB11 Volante. On their facebook page Aston Martin posted three images of the car. The images show the rear and the rear three quarter of the car, while the third image is a close up of the stickers on the doors that indicate the vehicle will be officially launched in spring 2018. However, Aston has probably deliberately forgotten to upload images of the front of the car, which is the reason we expect the DB11 Volant to host some subtle changes in styling, but mimic the the overall design of coupe at the front to help it stand out a little bit more.

The images reveal that the DB11 Volante features a fabric soft-top roof and will be powered by the same twin-turbo charged, all new 5.2-litre ,V12 that develops 600hp and 650Nm of torque. That gave the hard top a top speed of 321km/h and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 3.9 seconds, but for the convertible, we expect it to be slightly slower due to the added weight from the mechanically convertible roof. But we also believe it will have a heavier price tag compared to the hard top.

We would love to tell you that at the Paris Motor Show, you can go and see the DB11 Volante in the flesh, but unfortunately, you wont see any Astons there at all. This year along with Rolls Royce, Volvo and Ford, Aston Martin have taken a call to not spend millions of their cash to display their cars at the show and instead plan to spend money in marketing that involves direct involvement with the actual consumers.

But with convertible DB11 set to be launched in early 2018, - likely to be in Geneva again, it is likely that in the coming months, we will get to see more images of the topless sportscar surfacing soon.
