Toyota bZ7 Electric Sedan Concept

The 2025 Auto Shanghai continues to serve as a major platform for automakers to showcase their new innovations. Among the prominent automakers, Toyota revealed its bZ7 electric sedan concept, developed in collaboration with its Chinese joint venture partner GAC. The bZ7 looks striking and stretches over 5,000mm in length. It marks a new entry in the brand’s growing bZ lineup and highlights the brand’s modern advancements for China’s fast-growing EV sector. While Toyota has yet to announce an exact launch date, the company plans to move the bZ7 into production within the next year. Once launched, the electric sedan is expected to compete directly with high-end rivals such as the Tesla Model S and top-of-the-line Chinese offerings like the BYD Han.

Toyota bZ7: Key Highlights

The Toyota bZ7 is an eye-catching electric sedan with a purposeful design, including a signature Hammerhead face paired with striking C-shaped, full-width LED headlamps. The continuous rear light bar and integrated spoiler amplify the rear look alongside a high-mounted brake light and slim wing.

A lidar sensor positioned on the roof hints at the advanced driver assistance system, while the side view boasts a coupe-inspired silhouette, with a gracefully descending roofline that merges effortlessly into the rear. The semi-recessed door handles and 21-inch multi-spoke wheels complete the stylish look.

The bZ7’s interior has simple, modern, and user-friendly vibes, with ambient lighting subtly enhancing various areas for a refined touch. It includes a floating central control screen, complemented by an embedded instrument panel and a three-spoke steering wheel. The centre console houses wireless charging panels, and there’s also a panoramic sunroof.

While Toyota has yet to disclose the official powertrain specifications for the bZ7, industry reports suggest that the electric sedan will likely feature BYD’s ‘Blade’ lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery technology. Toyota has already integrated BYD’s advanced powertrain components in its electric models in China, including the bZ3 sedan and the bZ3C. Given this, it's highly anticipated that the bZ7 will adopt a similar setup.
