Bentley confirms SUV by 2016

Volkswagen gave its ultra-luxury Bentley division the nod to build its first sport-utility vehicle which will go beyond the companys speciality of fast and luxurious cars. Bentley had shown interest in building an SUV and had even showcased a concept – EXP 9F

“Designed to be the most powerful and exquisitely-crafted SUV on the road, the new Bentley will change the way the world looks at cars of this kind. So prepare to be amazed.” says Bentley. The new model, billed as the world's most expensive SUV, will go on sale in 2016. The project will create over 1,000 jobs in the UK, Europe's second-largest auto market, and require over 800 million pounds ($1.23 billion) of investment over the next three years.

But the Bentley SUV may face competition from Lamborghini, which is set to launch the Urus SUV in 2017, Maserati's Jeep-based Kubang and Land Rover's Range Rover Sport. There will be some design changes to the SUV because the EXP-9F was quite a shocker, but Bentley is ready to take the plunge.
