Bharat Mobility Expo 2025: MG M9 Electric MPV Marks India Debut at the Auto Show

Bharat Mobility Expo 2025: JSW MG Motor India has officially unveiled its second premium vehicle, the M9, expanding its premium range. The new model will be sold through the brand's 'Select' outlets. Showcased at the ongoing Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the MG M9 marks its debut alongside the Cyberster electric sportscar. Originally revealed as the "Mifa 9" at the 2023 Auto Expo, the M9 presents a classic MPV design with a boxy silhouette. The vehicle’s distinctive look is highlighted by an upright front end featuring LED lights that enhance its bold appearance. The headlamps are integrated into the bumper, surrounded by a chrome outline that extends to the lower section of the MPV. For the uninitiated, the Bharat Mobility Expo is scheduled to take place from January 17 to January 22, 2025. 

MG M9 MPV: Mechanical Setup

The MG M9 EV is powered by a 90kWh battery, offering a WLTP-certified driving range of 430 km on a full charge. The battery powers a single motor located at the front, giving the M9 front-wheel drive capabilities, with a total output of 241bhp and 350Nm of peak torque.

MG includes an 11 kW charger, which takes 8.5 hours to fully charge the battery from 5% to 100%. Additionally, DC fast charging can boost the battery from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes.

MG M9 MPV: Exterior and Interior Details

The MG M9 features a traditional boxy MPV design but stands apart with several unique styling elements. Its front is characterised by a wide LED light bar that spans the width of the vehicle, with turn signals at either end. The headlights are embedded within the bumper, framed by chrome detailing that flows seamlessly into the lower portion. The faux air intake at the bottom contains the license plate and sensors. At the rear, there are more chrome accents, vertical taillights with a downward angle, and an LED light bar connecting them. The back end also incorporates subtle cuts and additional chrome details around the bumper. MG will offer the car in five paint jobs: Black Pearl, Wine Red, Mineral Blue, White Pearl, and Camden Grey.

The car's spacious three-row, seven-seater cabin boasts leather upholstery throughout, with electrically adjustable seats in both the front and rear rows. In the top variant, the second-row ottoman seats offer eight massage settings, folding tables, and touchscreen controls for added comfort. The vehicle features a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other highlights include three-zone automatic climate control, rear entertainment screens, a 12-speaker sound system, an air purifier, and customisable, 64-colour ambient lighting.

MG Select: An Overview

Last year, JSW MG Motor India launched MG Select, a new brand channel targeting the growing "accessible luxury" market in India. Over the next two years, MG Select plans to introduce a range of four luxury vehicles. In its initial phase, the channel will establish experience centers in 12 major Indian cities. These showrooms are designed to elevate the car-buying experience, offering exceptional service and a carefully curated selection of models. This initiative is aimed at addressing the rising demand for luxury cars in India and bolstering MG Motor’s market presence.

As part of this premium retail venture, the British automaker will offer a broad lineup focused on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), including plug-in hybrids, electric vehicles, and more. These offerings will underscore MG Select’s commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge technology.
