BMW India has updated the 5 Series Long Wheelbase (LWB) with the Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge and the feature-rich Driving Assistant Plus package. What’s noteworthy is that the Bavarian automaker has rolled out these features without altering the ex-showroom price of Rs 73.35 lakh. With this update, the 5 Series LWB solidifies its position in the competitive luxury sedan market against rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB and Audi A6. It also boosts its appeal with improved rear-seat comfort and advanced driver assistance. To recap, BMW launched the 5 Series Long Wheelbase last year alongside the CE 04, the new Mini Cooper S, and the Mini Countryman EV. The sedan is offered exclusively in the 530Li variant. While already on sale in China, India marks the first right-hand drive market to receive this model. The new 5 Series LWB is also BMW’s second long-wheelbase sedan in the country, following the 3 Series Gran Limousine.

Visually, the most significant enhancement on the 5 Series Long Wheelbase is the Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge, which surpasses the experience of a conventional panoramic roof. It comes with an integrated printed graphic and LED lighting elements that work with the car’s existing ambient lighting, enabling dynamic effects and colours to change in sync with the selected driving modes. The new Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge fills the spacious Long Wheelbase cabin with natural light, enhancing its open, airy atmosphere, while also creating a premium ambient light display that elevates the sedan’s sense of luxury.

In addition, BMW has bolstered the 5 Series Long Wheelbase’s active safety credentials with the all-new Driving Assistant Plus package. Drivers benefit from Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, which not only regulates speed and following distance but can also automatically detect and stop the vehicle for stationary obstacles. Other key features include lane-change warning, front-collision warning, rear-collision warning, and cross-traffic warning. These functions are intuitively managed via steering-mounted controls.
The BMW 530Li M Sport Long Wheelbase retains its proven mechanical setup, featuring a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.
