BMW reduces prices of locally produced cars

BMW has announced a price drop in majority of its locally produced cars, thanks to increased localisation at its Chennai plant.

All models in the standard 3 Series are now 1 lakh cheaper, while the GT Luxury Line sees a price drop of 1.6 lakh. Similarly, the top variant in BMW’s 5 Series is now available at Rs 59.90 lakh, having earlier been priced at Rs 62.50 lakh. The X3 and X5 line of SUVs have also benefitted from the ‘Make in India’ drive.

Speaking about the reduced prices, Mr. Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India said, “The future belongs to India. If you want to benefit from the dynamics of the Indian market, you need to act today. Following our approach ‘Production follows the market’, we have accelerated our localization program in India.  We have created a win-win situation for our customers with a wide range of exclusively authentic luxury products and now equally attractive value proposition with ‘Make in India’.”

BMW’s Chennai plant became operational in 2007 and currently produces the 1 Series, 3 Series, 3 Series Gran Turismo, 5 Series, 7 Series, X1, X3 and the X5.
