Chinese EV manufacturer BYD has unveiled the Atto 3 Evo, raising the bar for its popular electric SUV in the competitive market. As a more powerful and refined evolution of the standard Atto 3, the Evo features a larger battery, increased range, and faster charging. It has the latest iteration of BYD’s self-developed e-Platform 3.0 and is now offered with rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options, instead of the previous front-wheel-drive-only setup. The model also benefits from a redesigned five-link rear suspension. In India, the BYD Atto 3 is available with a 49.92kWh and a 60.48kWh battery options, with an ARAI-certified range of 468 kilometres and 521 kilometres, respectively.
Executive Vice President of BYD Stella Li said, 'The Atto 3 EVO proves how big a step we can make as a brand in less than three years. We've distilled our EV innovations and our latest technologies into a package that has already proven popular with buyers across Europe. And the result is another standout offering in the class – powerful, efficient, and packed with useful features. It's not a car, it's a BYD!'

The Atto 3 Evo comes in two variants, both equipped with a larger 74.8kWh battery and built on an advanced 800V architecture that supports ultra-fast 220kW DC charging. This allows the SUV to charge from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes.

The rear-wheel-drive version produces 309bhp and 380Nm, and has a 0 to 100km/h acceleration time of 5.5 seconds and a WLTP range of 510 kilometres. Meanwhile, the all-wheel-drive model steps that output to 443bhp and 560Nm, cutting the 0-100km/h sprint to 3.9 seconds while still offering a WLTP range of 470 kilometres.

The BYD Atto 3 Evo keeps the same overall size as before but makes better use of space thanks to its e-Platform 3.0 architecture, with a larger 490-litre boot (which can be extended to 1,360 litres with the rear seats folded) and a new 101-litre frunk. The SUV can tow up to 1,500kg (braked) and features BYD’s V2L function to power external devices up to 3kW.
