BYD Sealion 7 Launched in India at Rs 48.90 Lakh

BYD has launched the Sealion 7 in India, following its premiere at the 2025 Auto Expo. The SUV has two variants – Premium and Performance – and is priced between Rs 48.90 lakh and Rs 54.90 lakh (both, ex-showroom). Bookings are already open with a token amount of Rs 70,000, while deliveries are scheduled to begin on March 7, 2025. The Sealion 7 offers four colour options – Cosmos Black, Atlantis Gray, Aurora White, and Shark Gray – and is packed with features like a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen. With its striking design and advanced features, the newly launched SUV goes head-to-head with rivals like the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Volvo C40 Recharge, and the Volvo EX40. It is expected to boost BYD’s presence in the Indian market, joining the Seal, Atto 3, and eMAX 7 in its growing lineup.

BYD Sealion 7: Design

The Sealion 7 joins the Seal in showcasing BYD's Ocean Series design language. The SUV's front fascia bears a strong resemblance to its sedan counterpart, highlighting the brand's bold and sleek design philosophy. It has a closed-off grille, striking LED headlights, and sharply sculpted bumper cuts. The roofline slopes from the B-pillar, creating an elegant SUV-coupe profile.

Other notable design elements include flush door handles, flared wheel arches accented by black cladding, dual-tone alloy wheels, a roof-mounted spoiler, connected wraparound tail lamps, and a muscular rear bumper.

BYD Sealion 7: Interior and Features

Inside, the BYD Sealion 7 boasts a tech-forward and luxurious atmosphere. The centrepiece is a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen, seamlessly integrating Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and control of numerous vehicle functions. The focus on comfort is evident with features like an electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory, a head-up display, and ventilated front seats, while the premium atmosphere is enhanced by ambient lighting, a 12-speaker sound system, and a panoramic glass roof. For convenience, the SUV gets a wireless phone charger and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.

The Sealion 7 comes equipped with a robust safety suite, featuring front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera system, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and 11 airbags. Additionally, it includes an advanced ADAS package, which offers blind spot detection, forward collision warning, and lane departure assist.

BYD Sealion 7: Battery and Range

The BYD Sealion 7 offers both RWD and AWD configurations, both powered by an 82.6kWh battery. The premium RWD variant delivers 308bhp and 380Nm, and a range of 567 kilometres on a full charge.

In contrast, the performance AWD version ramps up power to 523bhp and 690Nm of torque, with a range of 542 kilometres. The car accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 215km/h.
