Citroen has officially teased the Basalt X and opened its pre-bookings at a token amount of Rs 11,000. The teaser offers an early look at both the exterior and interior, suggesting cosmetic and feature upgrades to the SUV Coupe. While Citroen has not shared any exact details, Basalt X is likely to carry a slight premium over the standard model, priced between Rs 8.32 lakh and Rs 14.10 lakh (both, ex-showroom). Once launched, the SUV coupe will directly compete against the Tata Curvv and serve as an alternative to the Kia Seltos, the C3 Aircross, and the Hyundai Creta.

The Basalt X could be a limited and special edition of the SUV Coupe. Compared to the regular Basalt, the special version will probably feature key design and feature differences. According to the most recent teaser, the Basalt X reflects the all-black 'Dark Edition' look of the SUV Coupe launched in April of this year. It also has the same 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.

Inside, the car offers significant upgrades. Unlike the standard model's all-white cabin, the Basalt X features a more sophisticated black and tan theme. Additionally, the special edition has a rear centre armrest with two cupholders and a translucent dashboard strip, hinting at the potential inclusion of ambient lighting.
The Basalt X is expected to get a significant tech upgrade, inheriting features from the new C3 X. These will likely include keyless entry and a 360-degree camera system. Other than this, the feature list will likely remain the same, including rear seats with adjustable under-thigh support, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, and a 7-inch digital driver's display.
In terms of safety, the Basalt X will likely be well-equipped with equipment such as six standard airbags, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, and hill hold assist.
The upcoming Citroen Basalt X is speculated to offer the same engine options as its standard counterpart. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit produces 81bhp and 115Nm, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
