Citroen India has hiked the prices of the C3 hatchback and the C5 Aircross SUV ahead of the launch of the Citroen eC3 electric vehicle. The automaker has announced a price increase of up to Rs 50,000 on these two models. The Shin dual-tone Citroen C5 Aircross SUV is now priced at Rs 37.17 lakh (ex-showroom) following the Rs 50,000 price increase. Similar to this, the Citroen C3 hatchback saw an increase in price by up to Rs 27,500 across India. The price of the car has increased by Rs 20,000 for the turbo-petrol model and by Rs 27,500 for the NA petrol model. The price increase will take effect on January 1, 2023.

The latest price increase comes about a month after the firm confirmed a price bump in December of last year. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Honda, and other major automakers have recently announced price increases beginning in January 2023 as well. The step intends to offset rising input costs while also complying with stricter emission standards slated to take effect in April 2023. Vehicles will be required to have onboard self-diagnostic equipment to monitor real-time driving pollution levels under the new regulations.

Recently, spy images of the new Citroen eC3 EV surfaced online. According to these photos, the upcoming EV will not include keyless entry or automated climate control. Moreover, the traditional gear lever has taken on the function of a toggle switch. The Citroen eC3 EV will be available with an ECO mode. It is scheduled to be launched at the 2023 Auto Expo in January.

The upcoming electric car is likely to be fuelled by a 20-30kWh battery pack. Due to the anticipated battery pack capacity being similar to that of the Nexon EV, it will have a driving range of 200-250 kilometres on a single charge. Citroen eC3 test mules were sighted at a charging station in India. The appearance of the upcoming electric vehicle seems to be identical to the ICE C3 in the leaked images, with split headlamps and square tail lamps. It is expected to have steel wheels with covers, roof rails, and a dual-tone paint scheme.
