Citroen India has announced that its first product for the Indian market, the C5 Aircross SUV, will be offered with a leasing option from the time of the launch. Citroen will start its sales operations in India by the end of 2020.

Earlier this year, French automaker Citroen, a Group PSA company, confirmed that it’ll kickstart its India operations in 2020 with the launch of the C5 Aircross SUV. Now, in the build-up to the launch, Citroen has announced that the company will offer full leasing services to its customers from the get-go. For this venture, Citroen has partnered up with ALD Automotive in India.

Commenting on the development, Roland Bouchara, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Citroën India, said, 'We are inspired by India, and we are committed to providing the best-in-class car ownership experience to our customers. Leasing is one of the favourite ways to have a car across the world, and in India, it is slated to grow at a rapid speed. Citroën Lease will be available across the entire product line-up at an attractive monthly lease rental. We are confident that our customers will benefit from this collaboration.'

Upon its arrival in India with the C5 Aircross, Citroen aims to launch one new car in the country each year after that. This will also include a product specially designed and developed for our market. Citroen India is going to produce cars locally at its upcoming manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The annual production of the Hosur factory will stand at around 1,00,000 units per year, with as much as 95% localisation of components. Citroen is aiming to achieve a target of a 2% market share in India by 2025.

As for its first product, the C5 Aircross, it’s expected to come powered by a 1.5-litre diesel engine for our market at the time of its launch. The engine will be paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Size-wise, the C5 Aircross is around 4.5m long, which means it’s slightly longer than the Hyundai Tucson. The C5 Aircross is expected to be priced between Rs 25 lakh and  Rs 30 lakh.
