Czinger 21C Blackbird Edition Front

At the Monterey Car Week 2023, American automaker, Czinger unveiled the 21C Blackbird Edition. The renowned Lockheed SR-71 "Blackbird" espionage plane served as the inspiration for this special model. For those unaware, the Lockheed SR-71 'Blackbird' entered service with the American Armed Forces in 1966 and is one of the most well-known military aircraft ever manufactured. Despite being abandoned in 1999, the aircraft is still looked upon as a technological wonder that for almost 60 years held the world record for the fastest air-breathing plane. The limited edition Czinger now uses the same materials as the SR-71.

Early in 2020, the original Czinger 21C made its premiere. At the WeatherTech Laguna Seca Raceway in California, it broke the previous record established by the McLaren Senna by setting a lap time of 1 minute, 25.44 seconds. Mechanically, this car has a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 1,232bhp, when combined with two electric motors. The special version, however, receives a 99bhp increase from the original Czinger 21C, bringing the total output to 1,332bhp, which is transmitted through an all-wheel-drive system.

Czinger 21C Blackbird Edition: Exterior & Interior

The new model has a completely black exterior thanks to a unique Jet Black paint job. The 21C also features several Blackbird badges with an SR-71 shape and noticeable carbon fibre. The spokes of its wheels echo the spy plane's streamlined form. The rear continues to mimic the Blackbird with a large wing and exhaust outlets that resemble afterburners.

With the black shade as the focal point, the cabin's interior continues the Blackbird concept. An afterburner-like glow emanates from the orange seat inserts and trim. Due to the low-slung tandem seating position, even the vision from the driver's seat resembles that of the SR-71 espionage jet.
