Facelifted BMW X1 Launched

BMW India today launched the face lifted X1, the first launch of the year for the manufacturer.

Having sold over 9000 cars in India in 2012, BMW recorded its highest sales in India since its entry into the market in 2007.

BMW India Head Mr. Philip Von Saar commented that in 2012 BMW India faced a massive price war from competitors in the quest for market share. However, BMW is not willing to participate in such a price war as it wants to maintain its luxury appeal and doesn't want to dilute the brand in the long term by heavy discounting on products.

The prices of the new version are:

Also present at the launch was Bollywood actor Diya Mirza who as an owner of a BMW vehicle herself expressed her love for the brand and faith in it's products. She also expressed her positive experience with the service and support that BMW has provided with their products.

The updates to the X1 include the latest variant of BMW's TwinPower Turbo Diesel engine producing 184bhp and is paired to the acclaimed 8-speed automatic transmission. The steering system has also been shifted to an Electric Power steering to further enhance efficiency.

Standard equipment has also been increased with BMW Navigation with hard drive storage and 8.8-inch display as standard along with features such as Auto Start-Stop, ECO PRO mode to enhance efficiency and brake energy regeneration amongst other features.

In what looks like a tough year for the Indian automotive market, this is the model that BMW hopes that will spark a sales surge in 2013.
