Genesis Neolun SUV Concept Marks Global Debut; Gets Retractable Roof Rack, Suicide Doors, and More

Hyundai's luxury vehicle division Genesis has unveiled its Neolun SUV concept, which is expected to be called the 'GV90' upon launch. The concept features a striking two-tone colour scheme of Majestic Blue and Midnight Black. It has distinctive styling elements that include a retractable roof rack, twin-line headlamps and taillights, and coach doors. According to Genesis Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke, "Korea's iconic moon-shaped porcelain jars" inspired the design of its new masterpiece. There is currently no information about the Neolun SUV's performance, powertrain, or pricing. However, Hyundai's luxury brand will be showcasing the concept at the New York Auto Show, which will run from March 29 to April 7. It is expected that more details about the vehicle will be revealed during this event. Hyundai's sibling Kia will also showcase its K4 sedan at the upcoming auto show in New York. 

Genesis Neolun SUV Concept: More Highlights

The concept has a large cabin with an authentic wood floor and furnishings made of Purple Silk leather and Royal Indigo cashmere. The cabin comes equipped with two rows of seating, with captain seats located in the second row. The front seats can swivel, and there is a retractable large display to enhance the entertainment experience of the passengers in the back seat. The concept is inspired by the traditional Korean heating system 'ondol'. It features heating films placed strategically on the floor, dashboard, door trims, seatbacks, and console sides to provide warmth. 

The SUV concept has a sound system with cutting-edge 'sound architecture', which provides an audio experience similar to that of a concert hall. Additionally, it has a rotating crystal sphere in the front compartment that rotates when the sound system is on, just like other Genesis models such as the GV60.

Genesis GV60 Magma Concept

Hyundai's luxury car division debuted the GV60 Magma Concept alongside its full-size electric Neolun SUV. The Magma concept is included in the Genesis Magma Program and created with inputs from racing icon Jacky Ickx. It boasts a luxurious and sporty interior that incorporates bucket seats with body-coloured seatbacks, suede and Nappa leather upholstery with double-diamond stitching patterns in the brand's signature orange colour and titanium grey. According to Donckerwolke ''The GV60 Magma Concept will deliver ample power, instilling customers with the confidence to drive with pure excitement and exhilaration''. 

He further said ''Genesis Magma presents an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of performance and luxury for new interpretations in high-performance vehicles, with the ultimate goal of developing models exclusive to Genesis. The brand will continue to reveal experimental concepts with careful consideration of both technological and aesthetic elements. While speed and performance are important, the Genesis Magma program will look beyond, prioritizing the driving experience to kindle the joy of sporty driving with effortless comfort.”
