Porsche revealed its much anticipated 911 GT3 RS with 493bhp of power at the Geneva Motor Show today.

Figure this, an engine churning out a maximum of 493bhp (500PS) of power, 480Nm of torque, 0-100 in 3.3 seconds, and a top speed of 320km/h. If you are still trying to match these numbers with the brand Porsche, say hello to the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS – a more powerful, weighing less, more torquey and more expensive 911 GT3. The 911 GT3 Rs is 10kgs lighter than the car it is aspired from, has 25 extra horses under the bonnet, 40.7Nm of extra torque and, hey wait, costs 50,000 Euros extra.

The roof of the car has been sculpted out of Magnesium, and the trunklid and engine cover are made of carbon-fibre reinforced plastic. The RS version is also Porsche’s best performing 911 supercar variant. It is also a notch below the true-blue racing cars from Porsche.

The car is propelled by a4.0-litre six-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with direct fuel injection which has a power output of 493bhp. The chassis and aerodynamics of the 911 GT3 RS were tuned for optimal circuit racetrack performance. In fact, the stuff got so serious that car did a lap on the famous Nurburgring circuit in an unbelievable seven minutes and 20 seconds, 20 seconds faster than the Cayman GT4. Supporting that kind of staggering performance is the seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission which is lighter than the competition.

The car is a rear-wheel driven unit but with torque vectoring power can be made to transfer to any of the wheels. Porsche also claims that the car boosts downforce as well with the help of the airflow around the brakes. Inside, the car picks up the carbon-fibre seats of the 918 Spyder and fitted as standard is Porsche’s Club Sport Package, which includes a roll cage. Also equipped are a six-point safety harness for the driver, a fire extinguisher and preparation for a battery master switch.

The car will go on sale in UK in a few months time and will attract a price tag of € 1,31,296.
