Honda Elevate front

It is yet another achievement for Honda Cars India as it has logged over 30,000 unit sales for its popular mid-size SUV, the Elevate. The carmaker commenced deliveries for the Elevate on September 4, 2023 – the same day Honda launched the all-new product. By December 2023, more than 20,000 units of the SUV were plying on Indian roads. Furthermore, the mega delivery event organised in September 2023 witnessed the delivery of over 200 Elevate SUVs to customers in a single day. Available in four variants – SV, V, VX, and ZX, the Honda Elevate gets a sole powertrain setup – a 1.5-litre iVTEC petrol unit, which also powers the City sedan. This engine is capable of churning out 120bhp and 145Nm of peak torque. On offer are two transmission options: a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed CVT. The 6-speed manual gearbox is standard on all 4 variants, whereas the 7-speed CVT is offered across the V, VX, and ZX versions.

On the feature front, the SUV includes a 10.25-inch LCD touch-screen, a wireless phone charger, a 7.0-inch full-colour TFT instrument panel, and Honda Connect. Other bits include rich brown leatherette upholstery, soft-touch door, dashboard trimmings, etc. The Elevate prioritises the safety of its passengers with an ADAS suite, hill start assist, emergency stop signal, a multi-angle rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX-compatible rear side seats with lower anchorages & top tether. Note that these features shall vary depending on the trim.

Honda Elevate SUV: Dimensions, Design

In terms of dimensions, the Honda Elevate measures 1,790mm in width, 1,650mm in height, and 4,312mm in length. Furthermore, it features a class-leading boot space of 458 litres, while the vehicle's exterior is in line with Honda's current global design language for its SUVs, which includes a large grille with the Honda logo, slender and sharp headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED Turn indicators, diamond-cut R17 alloy wheels, and LED taillamps.

Honda Elevate SUV: Price, Rivals

The price of the Honda Elevate stands between Rs 11.58 lakh for the entry-level SV MT variant and Rs 16.20 lakh for the top-spec ZX CVT variant. All prices are ex-showroom. In related news, for the first time, the Elevate SUV is being offered with a cash discount of Rs 50,000 in March; however, the amount may vary depending on the location, colour, variant, and other factors.

The SUV comes in seven mono-tone colour options – Obsidian Blue Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, Golden Brown Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Meteoroid Grey Metallic, and Phoenix Orange Pearl. It can also be had in three dual-tone colours – Phoenix Orange Pearl, Platinum White Pearl, and Radiant Red Metallic, all with a Crystal Black Pearl roof. In terms of market rivalry, the Elevate goes up against the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor, and Tata Nexon.

Honda Elevate Launched as WR-V in Japan

Honda's badge-engineered version of the Elevate SUV, the new WR-V, made its debut in the Japanese market in November 2023. It is now on sale in the said country and shares the same Global Small Car platform as the Elevate.

Unlike the exterior that bears no changes over the Elevate, the interior of the new WR-V sports a host of revisions. The cabin has been given an all-black treatment. The seats are upholstered in black as against the rich brown leatherette upholstery found on the India-spec model. Plus, the Japanese version lacks the leather inserts on the dashboard.

Features-wise, the Honda WR-V offers a new touchscreen infotainment system with physical controls. In comparison, the Honda Elevate has a 10.25-inch LCD touch-screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Other bits on the WR-V include automatic climate control, steering mounted controls, reverse parking camera, rear aircon vents, as well as the Honda Sensing ADAS suite, which includes collision mitigation brakes, lane watch camera, lane-keeping support system, auto high beam, and adaptive cruise control. But, the car loses key features such as a single-pane electric sunroof and wireless charger.

Meanwhile, the powertrain of the Honda WR-V remains the same. It gets the same 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, although mated to a CVT unit only.
