Honda Mid-size SUV, Hyundai Creta Rival, Spotted Testing in India Ahead of Debut

The new compact Honda SUV has been spotted ahead of the global debut, reportedly slated for mid-2023. A few months ago, Honda released the first teaser of this compact SUV. There is no official confirmation, but we anticipate that the recently introduced new Honda HR-V will serve as inspiration for the style of the mid-size SUV. According to industry rumours, the new compact SUV will get a sizable grille. Further, it will feature a set of LED headlamps with an upper-side LED DRL strip. In terms of market competition, the SUV will go against the models like the Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Creta, and more. The company has not yet made any announcements regarding the design, specifications, or powertrain. But we think that as the launch, which is anticipated for the middle of 2023, approaches, more information will start to circulate online. For now, let's explore what the spy shots reveal about the highly-anticipated mid-size Honda SUV.

Honda Mid-size SUV Spy Shots: Key Details

The test mule spied on roads revealed a couple of features. As per images, the mid-size Honda SUV will feature door ORVMs, a shark fin antenna, a 360-degree camera, roof rails, a rear wiper, alloy wheels, an integrated rear spoiler, a high-mounted stop lamp, and others.

There is no spy image of the interior. However, according to market reports, the mid-size SUV may follow the current range of Honda cars. Inside, it is expected to mirror the fifth-gen Honda City. Mechanically also, the upcoming SUV will reportedly follow the new City. It is likely to get a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine with a 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic transmission. A powerful hybrid engine with a 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled to an electric powertrain will also be available, according to industry reports. The carmaker will not provide diesel engines with the model.

Honda Mid-size SUV: Price, Availability & Delivery 

Honda has not shared any information about the upcoming SUV yet. However, market speculations reveal that it will be introduced to the market in mid-2023. Price-wise, the standard variant could cost Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom), and the top-end model,  on the other hand, could be priced at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming mid-size Honda SUV, after its expected launch in mid-2023, will reportedly begin dispatching to showrooms in the festive season of this year.
