Hyundai Elantra BS6 Diesel

Hyundai has launched the diesel version of the Elantra, which features a 1.5-litre unit. It'll be offered in two variants and gets both manual and automatic gearbox options. In addition, the company has also revised the prices of the Elantra petrol.

Hyundai has launched the BS6 version of the Elantra sedan. The Elantra diesel is offered in two variants – SX & SX (O). The SX variant is priced at Rs 18.70 lakh, while the SX carries a price tag of Rs 20.65 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom, Delhi).

Powering the BS6 compliant Elantra diesel is a 1,493cc four-cylinder turbo unit that produces 113bhp of max power and 250Nm of torque. This is the same engine that already does duty in the all-new Creta and the refreshed Verna. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox in SX trim, while the SX (O) gets a six-speed automatic gearbox.

On the design front, there aren’t any upgrades as compared to the petrol model. The interior is also unchanged, meaning you get all the bells and whistles, including the BlueLink connectivity suite, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto connectivity, an 8-speaker Infinity audio system, a tyre pressure monitoring system, LED projector headlamps, front ventilated seats, wireless phone charging, and more.

In addition to this, Hyundai has also made some changes to the Elantra petrol line-up. Instead of four, the Elantra petrol is now available in three variants – SX MT, SX AT and SX (O) AT. This means the base S version is no longer available and the price for the sedan now starts at Rs 17.60 lakh as opposed to earlier price of Rs 15.89 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom). That said, the petrol variants are now cheaper by up to Rs 89,000!

Here’s the variant-wise pricing (ex-showroom, Delhi) of the Elantra BS6:

Diesel

SX MT – Rs 18.70 lakh

SX (O) AT – Rs 20. 65 lakh

Petrol

SX MT – Rs 17.60 lakh

SX AT – Rs 18.70 lakh

SX (O) AT – Rs 19.55 lakh
