Hyundai India is expected to launch the new Elantra this year, but will the firm bring along the Hyundai Elantra N-Line too? Well, it is too soon to confirm at the moment but we’re optimistic.

Hyundai India has silently delisted the Elantra sedan from its website. This hints that the Korean carmaker has discontinued the production of the outgoing model. The outgoing Elantra will be replaced by the updated sedan which is on sale overseas. The launch of the new Hyundai Elantra is likely to be held by mid-2022. However, the firm may focus on bringing the new-gen Tucson first.

The new Elantra will follow Hyundai’s new design philosophy so expect an all-new looking car. Also, expect revamped interiors with the new 2022 Elantra.

The sedan will be based on a new platform and will likely pack new and multiple engine options. The updated 2.0-litre four-cylinder motor from the Hyundai Alcazar will mostly be offered in the new Elantra as well. There are good chances that Hyundai may offer a smaller-turbocharged unit as well. The new engine will come mated to a new gearbox.

Currently, the Hyundai Elantra is offered in SX and SX(O) variants and the sedan features a diesel powertrain as well. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is likely to be carried forward as is.

The prices start from Rs 17.86 lakh (ex-showroom) and go all the way up to Rs 21.13 lakh (ex-showroom). Hyundai may add a few more variants to the lineup and the prices could see a substantial increase over the current one.

The only rival to the Elantra is the 2021 Skoda Octavia, however, that sedan is not available with a diesel mill and seems exorbitant when compared to the prices of the outgoing Elantra.
