Hyundai has launched the Exter facelift in India, and prices now start at Rs 5.80 lakh (ex-showroom). It is not a full overhaul, but Hyundai has added more than 25 updates across design, features and safety. The variant names have also changed to HX2, HX4, HX6, HX8 and HX10. Bookings are open for Rs 11,000, both online and at dealerships. On the surface, it looks like a small refresh, but there are enough changes here to keep the Exter fresh in this segment.
The design tweaks are subtle, but you will notice them if you pay attention. The front now looks a bit wider with a new black grille and updated bumpers. The new 15-inch diamond-cut alloys add a slight difference to the stance.

Around the back, there is a wing-type spoiler and a revised C-pillar garnish. Hyundai has also added two new colours: Golden Bronze and Titanium Black Matte.
Inside, the big change is the new navy and grey dual-tone theme, along with a 3D carbon-pattern finish on the dashboard. You also get a flat-bottom steering wheel and metal pedals now. Hyundai has made the height-adjustable driver’s seat and rear headrests standard, which is something buyers will actually use. Higher variants also get a driver armrest, which is a nice addition for daily drives.

On the features side, Hyundai has added a few useful things. There is now a built-in dashcam and a rear Type-C charging port. The infotainment system supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Bluelink offers more than 60 connected features. You also get an electric sunroof, digital instrument cluster and over 300 voice commands that work without internet. Plus, maps and infotainment can be updated over the air, which is always handy.
Mechanically, nothing has changed. The 1.2-litre petrol engine continues with 82bhp and 114Nm, paired with either a five-speed manual or an AMT. The CNG version is still on offer, producing 68bhp and 95.2Nm with a manual gearbox.
One practical update here is that the spare wheel has been moved under the body in the CNG variant, which frees up boot space to 225 litres. Petrol versions continue to offer 391 litres.
