Hyundai Exter Gets New S Smart, SX Smart Variants in India; Here's What They Offer

The Hyundai Exter lineup is expanded with two new mid-level variants - the S Smart and SX Smart

The new variants are designed to offer a more feature-rich experience without stepping into the top-tier pricing. Both are available in petrol and CNG fuel types, paired with manual and automatic gearbox options, giving buyers greater flexibility in terms of configuration. By incorporating premium features at a more accessible price point, Hyundai aims to appeal to value-conscious customers. In a noteworthy update, ISOFIX child seat anchors are now standard across the Exter range, enhancing child safety. As for pricing, the S Smart petrol with manual transmission is set at Rs 7.68 lakh, while the AMT version is listed at Rs 8.39 lakh. The CNG-powered S Smart variant costs Rs 8.63 lakh. Meanwhile, the SX Smart petrol MT and AMT are priced at Rs 8.16 lakh and Rs 8.83 lakh, respectively, with the SX Smart CNG trim coming in at Rs 9.18 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.

Hyundai Exter S Smart and SX Smart: Features

Hyundai has expanded the Exter lineup by rolling out two mid-range variants – S Smart and SX Smart – each offered with petrol and CNG configurations. Both versions draw power from a 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine. In petrol mode, it puts out 82bhp and 113.8Nm of torque, while the CNG alternative delivers 68bhp and 95.2Nm. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard across both fuel types, with the petrol model also available with a five-speed AMT for added convenience.

Feature-wise, the Exter S Smart trim includes essentials such as an electric sunroof, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), LED taillamps, rear AC vents, 15-inch steel wheels with covers, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

Stepping up, the SX Smart variant enhances the offering with projector headlights, push-button start with a smart key, a shark-fin antenna, and retains all features from the S Smart trim.

From a safety standpoint, Hyundai has now made ISOFIX child seat anchors standard across the Exter range, in addition to the already-included six airbags. For those seeking added tech, the South Korean carmaker is also offering a nine-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a reverse camera as a genuine accessory, priced at Rs 14,999 and covered by a three-year warranty.
