Hyundai India 7 Million Car Roll Out M

The Korean car maker aims to cross the 10 million mark by first half of 2021

Hyundai Motor India Limited rolled out the 7 millionth car off its Sriperumbudur plant near Chennai. Creating history for the Korean brand was the Creta SUV in its fully loaded automatic transmission avatar. With this, Hyundai India became the first car maker to achieve this feat in a record time of 18 years. In fact, this accomplishment brings Hyundai India in the second-best spot after China. While the company only registered its first million eight years after it entered India, the subsequent millions have been recorded in an average of just 18-19 months.

Y.K Koo, Managing Director and CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited said, “HMIL has always set new benchmarks in terms of quality and customer delight by introducing new products with new technology and design to the Indian market, demonstrating superior manufacturing prowess.  Our ‘Made in India’ products have impressed global and Indian customers alike.”

Currently, Hyundai has 11 of its products on sale in India including the recently launched Elantra and Tucson. The Korean car maker aims at crossing the 10 million mark in the first half of 2021. Hyundai currently holds about 15 percent market share in India and registers sales of over 40,000 units a month. Of the current line-up of cars, the Grand i10 and the Elite i20 are the top-selling models.
