Hyundai has introduced the Insteroid Concept, an electric vehicle inspired by the Inster, at the ‘Night Garage Party’ at Peaches D8NE in Seoul. The EV with gaming influences and extensive customisation features a compact design and advanced technology, aligning with Hyundai’s push toward electrification. In an earlier press release, the South Korean automaker stated that the name “Insteroid” is derived from a blend of “Inster” and “steroid,” representing the concept’s strength, boldness, and dynamic nature. Sharing his thoughts about the new funky concept car, Eduardo Ramírez, Chief Designer, Hyundai Design Europe, said, 'Insteroid represents a modern take on the idea of a dream car. It is designed to inspire and create enthusiasm. This project allowed us to fully embrace unrestrained creativity, drawing inspiration from video games to create an emotional and engaging vision of Hyundai’s brand.'

The Insteroid takes inspiration from the Inster, which arrived on the market last year. This concept car presents a more powerful design with specialised wheels for track use, aerodynamic features like a large rear spoiler and air vents on the wheel arches, as well as an extended and broader body.

Inside, the cockpit features a minimalist design with bucket seats, a roll cage, and a specialised instrument cluster. The cabin features 3D knit fabric crafted from recycled yarns, helping to minimise material waste. According to the brand, each component is fully adjustable, embodying the spirit of a custom-built machine, staying true to the motto: “Build it, play it, break it, repeat.”

To enhance the experience, the Insteroid generates a distinctive sound signature. Building on the Inster's bold design, Insteroid introduces Drift Mode, which combines competitive thrills with fun, playful driving. Interactive elements like the Beat House sound system and the Message Grid allow for personalised experiences, deepening driver involvement. Scattered throughout the design, the Boost icon represents various personas, strengthening the emotional bond between driver and vehicle.
