Hyundai has added a new variant to the diesel lineup of the Venue SUV called the HX8 AT, which costs Rs 13.70 lakh (ex-showroom). In the lineup, the new variant is positioned below the higher-spec HX 10 diesel model, priced at Rs 15.51 lakh, which makes it about Rs 1.81 lakh more affordable. In terms of features, it offers slightly fewer amenities than the HX 10 but more than the HX 5, the base model in the range. This places it between the two diesel trims as a value-for-money choice. Notably, the launch of the Hyundai Venue HX8 Diesel Automatic Variant coincides with a 1 lakh booking milestone for the SUV. For reference, the Venue recorded over 80,000 bookings last month.
The newly introduced HX8 Diesel offers a wide spectrum of premium features (some of them available in the top-spec) at an affordable price point. These include a 4-way power-adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, as well as paddle shifters. It also offers Hyundai’s Bluelink connected car technology, dual-tone leatherette upholstery with 'Venue' branding, an electric parking brake with auto hold, traction control modes for different terrains such as sand, mud, and snow, and selectable drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport).

Earlier, Hyundai used to offer the HX8 variant with solely turbo-petrol engine. However, it has now expanded the variant’s lineup with the addition of a 1.5-litre diesel automatic powertrain. The new variant employs a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder unit to churn out a maximum power output of 114.4bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm. It gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic for handling transmission duties.
While the new Hyundai Venue HX8 Diesel Automatic is a value-focused alternative to its top-spec diesel sibling, the HX 10, there are still some modern features that it misses out on. These are dual 12.3-inch curved displays, a Bose premium sound system, and a Level 2 ADAS safety suite. Buyers looking for a well-equipped model with a good set of premium features can consider the HX8, as it comes at a significantly lower price without stretching the budget. However, those unwilling to compromise and seeking a more comprehensive overall experience can opt for the top-spec HX10.
