Chery Jaecoo J7 plug-in hybrid SUV spotted in India undisguised, indicating a possible launch under the JSW and Chery partnership.

The Chery Jaecoo J7 has been spotted in India completely undisguised, and this one looks like it’s not too far from hitting the road. The SUV was seen being transported on a flatbed in a clean white finish, giving a proper look at its design and proportions. No camo, no test bits, just a full production-spec model out in the open. This sighting lines up with reports of a tie-up between the JSW Group and Chery. The plan here is simple: bring in a new range of electrified vehicles for the Indian market.

The Jaecoo J7 is expected to be one of the first models from this partnership, with more products from Chery’s global portfolio likely to follow. If everything goes as expected, the model could be assembled in Maharashtra.
The SUV gets a chrome-finished grille with vertical slats, paired with a split LED headlamp setup. The DRLs sit up top, while the main beams are placed lower on the bumper, giving it a layered look. In profile, the flush door handles sit neatly within the body, and at the rear, there’s a full-width LED light bar. It rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with aero inserts to help manage airflow.

The cabin is built around a large 14.8-inch portrait touchscreen, with a 10.25-inch digital cluster for the driver. You also get a high-set centre console with a compact electronic gear selector, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats.
The J7 packs a plug-in hybrid setup with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and an electric motor. Combined output stands at 335bhp and 525Nm, which is strong on paper. It also uses a dedicated hybrid transmission, aimed at keeping things efficient without taking away from drivability.

The battery pack is rated at 18.3kWh and supports both AC and DC fast charging. On electric power alone, the SUV can cover up to 106km, which should handle daily commutes with ease. With a full tank and charge, the claimed range stretches to 1,200km.
