JSW Motors is set to enter India’s passenger vehicle market with its first SUV launch planned before Diwali. The upcoming model will be based on the Jetour T2 platform and will use a hybrid powertrain, placing it among the new generation of electrified SUVs expected to arrive this year. This marks the beginning of JSW Motors’ journey as a car manufacturer, with the brand preparing to build its own product line for Indian roads. The SUV is expected to focus on real-world driving needs, combining electric support for city use with petrol power for highway runs. The Jetour T2-based SUV will add momentum to the growing hybrid segment in India. During a conversation with CNBC-TV18 India, Parth Jindal, the Managing Director, confirmed the timeline for the launch and stated that the preparations for the festive season are on track.

The SUV will be produced at JSW’s Maharashtra facility and will serve as the brand’s starting point before more models join the line-up.
The Jetour T2 follows a layout that clearly leans towards an adventure-style SUV. Its upright stance and box-shaped profile give it a presence that stands apart from urban-focused models. The unibody construction sits under a design that carries a strong road footprint, helped by its squared proportions.

At the front, the SUV features a wide grille with square LED lighting elements on either side. The wheel arches are shaped to house large alloy wheels fitted with all-terrain tyres, while roof rails and side steps add to its touring-ready layout. In terms of size, the Jetour T2 measures 4,785mm in length, 2,006mm in width and 1,875mm in height, with a 2,800mm wheelbase.
The Jetour T2 focuses on tech and cabin convenience. The dashboard is centred around a 15.6-inch touchscreen system, paired with a fully digital instrument cluster.

The cabin also includes multi-colour ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof, features that have become important for buyers in this segment. Safety support is handled by Level-2 ADAS, bringing functions such as driver assistance and monitoring systems into the package.
For India, JSW Motors is expected to introduce the Jetour T2 with a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid setup. While final India-specific details are yet to be confirmed, the SUV is likely to be offered with both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options.

Globally, the Jetour T2 i-DM uses a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 154bhp and 220Nm, working alongside two front-mounted electric motors. The combined output stands at 221bhp and 390Nm. Power comes from a 26.7kWh battery pack, which allows the SUV to deliver up to 139km of electric-only range under the NEDC test cycle.
