Kia EV5 UPCOMING

On August 25 at the Chengdu Motor Show in China, Kia will debut the production-spec EV5 SUV, the automaker's third-born EV model after the EV6 and the EV9. This SUV was first revealed as a concept by the South Korean manufacturer earlier this year. The forthcoming EV5 SUV will have an overall appearance that is remarkably similar to that of its bigger sibling, the EV9, which adheres to Kia's new design philosophy, "Opposites United." The new "Digital Tiger Face," as the carmaker terms it, pays an ode to the brand's tiger nose grille based on the concept's design. There is no word from the firm yet regarding the EV5's arrival in India. Kia, however, earlier stated that mass-market EVs will be introduced here by 2025. Here's everything we know so far about the soon-to-debut EV5 SUV.

Kia EV5 Electric SUV: Exterior Appearance

Similar to the recently unveiled EV9, the EV5 boasts futuristic elements and sharp lines. The smaller crossover is equipped up front with a Digital Tiger Face, extreme outer-edge vertical LED headlights, and Star Map LED DRLs. The electric sibling's 21-inch alloy wheels are asymmetrically designed, and its rear end is equipped with bracket-shaped taillights. Compared to the EV9 SUV's three rows of seats, it has two rows.

Kia EV5 Electric SUV: Battery Pack and Range

The EV5, together with the EV6 and the EV9, will ride on the modular E-GMP skateboard platform, which will also support four further electric vehicles by 2026. The EV5 is likely to receive a comparable powertrain choice to the EV6; hence, a 75-80kWh battery pack featuring a maximum range of over 482-kilometre can be anticipated.

Kia EV5 Electric SUV: Expected Features

A roof spoiler that improves aerodynamics as well as large 21-inch tyres are also anticipated for the production-spec EV5. Further, the cabin may come equipped with a host of cutting-edge features such as a touchscreen infotainment screen that wraps around the dashboard, sustainably produced materials, and an extensive range of options. Moreover, as seen in the concept version, a panoramic glass roof comprising solar panels that charge the battery when the automobile is moving or stationary might be present.

Kia EV5 Electric SUV: Market Rivals

Due to its size and stature, the EV5 can be seen as a potential rival to electric models such as the Volkswagen ID.4, the Toyota bZ4X, and the Nissan Ariya. It is important to note that before it makes its way to other foreign markets, the production-spec EV5 will first hit the Chinese market.
