Kia Seltos facelift in the works?

With the introduction of the tech loaded MG Astor, the Kia Seltos feels a little outdated; so is Kia working on a new and updated Seltos to bring the crossover-SUV at par with the segment?

Reports online are suggesting that Kia is working upon a refreshed Seltos. The Seltos has been on sale in India since August 2019 and since then, Kia hasn’t updated the Seltos substantially. The firm only added anniversary editions into the variant line up and during the course, some variants were discontinued as well. More recently, Kia launched the X-Line variant of the Seltos which sported cosmetic lifts in and out.

That said, in the past 2.5 years of the Seltos’s reign in India, the mid-size crossover SUV has largely carried the same styling since its debut. And given the Korean car maker’s strategy of updating the product every 2-3 years, it seems about the perfect time for the Seltos to receive an update; keeping aside that the Kia Carens could steal the limelight if the company could get the pricing on point.

While the Kia Seltos has always been a well-rounded package since its introduction, the SUV could use the addition of paddle-shifters and a panoramic sunroof which we see in its cousin, the Hyundai Creta.

Now that the segment has the MG Astor, which debuted with ADAS, has set a new benchmark in terms of safety within the segment. The new Kia Seltos is likely to debut with a similar safety kit.

The India launch of the updated Kia Seltos is likely to take place in mid-2022 and the crossover-SUV is likely to see an increase in price as well.
