The Syros, Kia's latest entrant in this space, promises cutting-edge technology, premium interiors, and advanced features to attract modern buyers. Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon, a long-standing favourite, continues to dominate with its impressive safety ratings, sturdy build quality, and refreshed design updates. Both SUVs offer distinct powertrain options, unique styling elements, and various convenience features tailored to different preferences. In this comprehensive comparison, we analyse the Kia Syros and Tata Nexon specifications, exploring their differences across dimensions, performance, and features to help buyers make an informed choice.

The Kia Syros boasts a striking front design, featuring a blanked-out tiger-nose grille, a clamshell bonnet with the Kia emblem, vertically stacked LED headlights, LED DRLs, and a pronounced air dam. Its side profile is accentuated by dual-tone alloy wheels, silver roof rails, and flush door handles, complemented by 17-inch wheels and black cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers. At the rear, it showcases two-piece L-shaped LED taillights, an integrated spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and a wraparound windshield.

When it comes to Nexon, the model presents a coupe-inspired silhouette with split LED headlights, Y-shaped LED taillights, and diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels.

The Syros can be had in eight single-tone paint jobs: Frost Blue, Glacier White Pearl, Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, Intense Red, Sparkling Silver, Aurora Black Pearl, and Gravity Grey.

Meanwhile, the Nexon comes in a wide range of single- and dual-tone colour options, including Fearless Purple, Creative Ocean, Pure Grey, Flame Red, Atlas Black, Daytona Grey, Pristine White, Calgary White, Flame Red with White Roof, Daytona Grey with White Roof, Creative Ocean with White Roof, Pristine White with Black Roof, Daytona Grey with Black Roof, Flame Red with Black Roof, Fearless Purple with Black Roof, and Calgary White with Black Roof.

The Kia Syros measures 3,995mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,665mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,550mm. It also offers a generous boot capacity of 465 litres.

In contrast, the Tata Nexon shares the same length of 3,995mm but is marginally wider at 1,804mm and shorter, standing at 1,620mm. Its wheelbase is also slightly lesser at 2,498mm. The boot space stands at 382 litres.

The Kia Syros comes equipped with two engine options: a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. The petrol engine delivers 118bhp and 172Nm of torque, while the diesel produces 114bhp and 250Nm. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual, a seven-speed DCT, and a six-speed torque converter automatic.

On the other hand, the Tata model offers both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit generates 118bhp and 170Nm, while the 1.5-litre diesel provides 113bhp and 260Nm. The petrol engine is available with four transmission options: a five-speed manual, six-speed manual, seven-speed DCT, and six-speed AMT. The diesel can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed AMT. With a broader range of engine and transmission options, the Nexon holds an edge over the Syros.

The Syros stands out with its larger dual 12.3-inch displays, surpassing the Sonet’s 10.25-inch screens. It boasts 64-colour ambient lighting, a premium Harman/Kardon eight-speaker audio system, a two-spoke steering wheel featuring the Kia logo, ventilated seating for all occupants, dual-zone climate control, front parking sensors, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a push-button start, Type-C charging ports, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, and windows with auto up/down functionality.

Meanwhile, the Tata Nexon has a digital instrument cluster, height-adjustable and ventillated front seats, a redesigned air conditioning panel, a two-spoke steering wheel, a wireless charger, a voice-activated sunroof, and a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Safety features include six airbags, TPMS, ESC, hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, and automatic headlights with rain-sensing wipers. Additionally, it proudly holds a five-star Global NCAP safety rating.
