Land Rover Discovery 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel launched

Land Rover has added a more affordable variant to the popular Discovery SUV. Powered by JLR’s 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel motor, prices for the Discovery start at Rs 75.18 lakh. Will be available in four variant options

Since its launch in 2017, Land Rover has only sold the diesel version of the Discovery with a 3.0-litre V6 heart. With prices starting at Rs 88.78 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base S trim, it was only a matter of time before Jaguar Land Rover spotted the need for a more affordable and accessible version of the car popular SUV. The company has now introduced the Discovery with a new 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel motor at a starting price of Rs Rs 75.18 lakh (ex-showroom).

Speaking about the launch, Rohit Suri, President & Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said, “The Discovery’s unmatched capability and versatility has now been enhanced with the introduction of the high powered Ingenium diesel variant at an attractive price that we believe will enable the Discovery to appeal to a wider customer base.”

From the 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel motor, the Discovery pulls out 237bhp and 500Nm – that’s just 18bhp and 100Nm less than the 3.0-litre version that is already on sale. This motor is the first JLR unit to feature a series sequential turbo. Land Rover will have the Discovery with the 2.0-litre option in sale in four variants – S, SE, HSE and HSE Luxury. The base S variant comes with active rear locking differential, hill launch assist, traction control, heated ORVMs, tyre pressure monitoring system, 6 speaker audio system and more. The top-spec HSE Luxury trim has been fitted with LED Headlights and taillights, climate front seats, 360-degree parking aid, keyless entry, Navigation Pro as standard. There’s a long list of optional features on offer as well.

The Land Rover Discovery is an extremely capable off the road too thanks to its 34 degree approach angle and 27.5 degree departure angle. It even gets a water wading capacity of 900mm and a towing capacity of 3,500 kilos. While the car has the makings of a genuine SUV, it’s an equally fantastic family car as well.
