One of the brand's most anticipated electric vehicles, the Range Rover Electric, is now being road tested, Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed. The soon-to-debut Range Rover Electric is expected to be the quietest and most sophisticated Range Rover to date, according to Tata Motors' British luxury automobile brand. In addition to disclosing this information, JLR has released a digital teaser for the upcoming e-SUV. Land Rover has further announced the opening of the Range Rover Electric waitlist before formal deliveries to customers commence. Keeping its on-road and off-road credentials as the conventional Range Rover, it will remain the first of its kind. The model will have its official debut sometime next year. Designed, engineered, and produced in the UK, the new Range Rover Electric will be assembled alongside the current mild and plug-in hybrid Range Rover automobiles in Solihull. Moreover, to help Range Rover electrify in advance of its 2039 net-zero carbon goal, JLR's new Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, will be the first location for the construction and assembly of batteries and Electrical Distribution Units.

JLR has officially teased the forthcoming Range Rover Electric in a new set of images, giving details about the wheel hub, door handles, charging outlet, front grille, and rear profile of the all-electric SUV. The model appears to have a sleek form with few creases and cuts, maybe to improve aerodynamic efficiency, based on the teaser photos. Aside from these, JLR has stated that the EV will be offered with performance identical to that of the premium Range Rover V8. It also boasts to have class-leading all-terrain technology, superior towing and wading capabilities, and more than any other upscale electric SUV. Additionally, the SUV features a unique active road noise cancellation system, a high degree of passenger comfort, and a sound design.

The adaptable Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA) from Jaguar Land Rover will serve as the foundation for the upcoming Range Rover Electric. The 800-volt charging design of the Range Rover Electric SUV will enable quick charging. The SUV with this EV architecture is said to be capable of receiving software upgrades over-the-air (OTA) and being able to wade through up to 850mm of water.

Range Rover Electric Testing Begins

The brand has confirmed the physical prototype testing of the EV is underway. With a new active road noise cancellation arrangement, sound design, and degree of cabin comfort, engineers intend to create the quietest and most refined Range Rover ever made. A year of virtual development including front-end robustness, multi-body systems analysis taking into account the demand on the chassis, and simulated wading up to 50 km/h has resulted in the construction of the first physical vehicles. Global on-road testing in temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +50 °C has begun, with locations spanning from Sweden to Dubai. For Range Rover's first fully electric car, the worldwide physical testing program has been modified to guarantee the electric drive system's resilience. This includes testing the underfloor, battery longevity, chassis integrity, and vehicle dynamics for thermal derating.
