Mahindra has officially announced that it will ramp up production of its much-loved SUV, the Thar Roxx, to enable faster deliveries. This move is expected to reduce waiting periods, as the model has received strong demand since its launch. The Thar Roxx is more than just a five-door version of the Thar with enhanced family-friendly appeal. It offers more features than its standard three-door counterpart, including a larger boot and premium additions like a panoramic sunroof. The 5-door iteration of the Thar is offered in seven paint options: Stealth Black, Tango Red, Everest White, Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Battleship Grey, and Burnt Sienna, all of which can be paired with a black roof that adds a rugged look. While the familiar boxy silhouette is retained, Mahindra has added several distinctive elements, including a body-coloured six-slat grille.

Other notable highlights include a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, muscular bumpers, rear door-mounted handles, circular fog lamps, and slim rectangular LED taillights.
The SUV is powered by either a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol or a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, both of which can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The petrol variants are rear-wheel drive only, while the diesel models also offer a 4x4 drivetrain equipped with a low-range transfer case.
In terms of features, the Thar Roxx is equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, a premium nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated leatherette seats, and a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also includes a panoramic sunroof, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, rear AC vents, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. As far as safety is concerned, the SUV has electronic stability control (ESC), six airbags, hill ascent and descent control, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
The SUV is available in six broad variants (MX1, MX3, AX3 L, MX5, AX5 L, and AX7), with prices ranging between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 23.39 lakh (both, ex-showroom).

The SUV locks horns with the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It can also be a more rugged alternative to the Kia Seltos, the Hyundai Creta, and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
